I think Spie, or whoever came up with the idea to run the competition must be dead chuffed. Surely such a range of quality logos to choose from would usually costs ££££'s if got through the normal methods most companies must go through?

A good looking, modern, understated, minimalist logo wouldn't have drawn nearly as much attention as the actual one has so I would say the 2012 logo has done its job. A good logo is more about function than form, so yes, it looks gash, but, there has been massive media attention around it and also funding and youth interest in the Olympics is very high...hard to knock it when you look at it like that.
