*** Desk and Room Gallery***

Here's my setup in my interim accommodations bit cramped but not much choice with no good houses on the market :(

That looks like 2 monitors stuck together, thats a super wide monitor you have there.

/offtopic Nothing wrong with Squiers, especially the Jap rather than Taiwan ones. Set up properly they'll play and sound as nice as guitars 3 times the price :)

2000 - Schumacher first Ferrari drivers championship.
It's the Championship presentation edition they release ever year.

Thought I recognised it. I've got two from 2000 when he was car number 3 and took the championship.

First has a cracked wing and then I got anther which is boxed and away after seeing them go up in value.

Most of my diecast stuff it GT and LMP1 from Le Mans. I am eyeing up the Black RS Spyder, but at £70!

I thought it was time to post some updated pictures since I have moved to a different room now, did all the decorating myself, first time I'd ever done any aswell. I did get some good advice from my grandad though :)

First up, my desk. The mug was a christmas preasent from my sister, apparently she thinks I am grumpy! ...can't imagine why. Grrr.

A wider perspective shot of the room looking towards my desk.

Finally, my tv, hifi, sofa etc. The door leads into my bathroom/storage room, the main door is the other side of the wardrobe, over by the desk.

Edit: Updated the first image to show my new monitor setup, that is a pair of Dell 2209WA's ...which has replaced my 2407 you can see in the other pictures.

I'd also like to know!

Do they deliver a beefier sound than my Mordaunt Short 914i? and how are they connected to the PC, via an AMP or as they're amped by themselves just a normal 3.5mm connection?

If the sound really is good from them I'd think about selling my 914i just to be able to gain the extra floor space!

cheers for the comments.

Connection from Xonar to speakers:-

3.5mm male jack to 2 XLR male cable.

Each speaker is active(own 70W amp) and needs it's own power cable.

Not sure how it compares to the MS 914i

another shot:-

Thanks for the info dude, so 2x XLR is needed, would make sense since each unit is separate.

I did some reading online about the bx80 and bx50 (and the AVR40 which is suited to the likes of me as I need the headphone port and front volume control) and have come to a conclusion from my findings.

I found the active/passive monitors are best suited to people who record music and remix instead of people who just listen to music because they're designed to not colour music and be as neutral as possible. Because of this my conclusion was that they would not provide any gains over my Xonar>NAD and 914i setup so not worth the hassle in selling them and getting a pair of monitors.

Still, the monitors will give you an uncoloured and crystal clear sound from the burr brown amps on the Xonar so you'll get great quality for your needs!

Thanks guys, I started off with the single 24" but after seeing a demonstration of triple head gaming I knew I just had to have this. The max res you can use due to limitations of DVI is 5040x1050, so would have liked to get 3x22" to keep it at native res but space limitations meant I had to settle for 20". I picked these up at a Dell outlet store for £99 each, with a 3yr dell warrenty. the original plan was to consign the 24" to the second PC but it was just too good for that so I mounted on a arm on the wall behind with adjustment for swing and tilt, and use it mainly for video pictures and to have Outlook and MSN running while I am gaming on the lower 3. Also it means i can use the larger screen for games that dont run in TripleHead rather than using the smaller centre monitor. Heres one more..

really nice set up, but looking at the room, I have to ask how did you get the prison officers let you have so many monitors? just jealous!!!
