GIT!! Mine's the latest 9th generation Kuro though, and it's a great honour as Pioneer are withdrawing from the TV market
Why do the good ones go and the bad ones stay *cough* Samsung *cough*
I know... it's nuts... especially considering how lately Pioneer have been a lot more competative on price... even though they never needed to be.
You would hate me even more if you knew how much I got this TV for professionally calibrated, with less than 300 hours on the clock with stand and undermount speaker
Considering mine's a 32" full 1080p, the picture is technically clearer than larger plasmas as it's on a smaller area. Am I right in saying this
??
Yes, but obviously you have to sit closer to the screen to notice the difference. I've read the reviews of those LCDs & they seem fantastic. The down side is though, they still can't come anywhere near to plasmas black-level-wise... hence my shift from LCD->Plasma (the Toshiba in my bedroom used to be my main TV, it's a 37" 1080P thing which is about 2 year old).
From my viewing distance with my 20/10 eyesight, I couldn't tell the difference between 1080P & 720P, hence not worrying about going for an 8th gen Kuro (a 720P set). The black levels improve the picture so much more than the difference between 720P & 1080P. I never realised quite how much of a difference it makes until I got the pioneer home! Out of curiosity I put my tosh next to it & the tosh looked absolutely terrible lol (and yet it's a 'good' LCD)!
Well I swear I've seen completely black cathode lights before. Either on OC or another computer related site.
Lol... bit of a contradiction in terms there... black = lack of any light
"Black lights" are the type of lights which emit UV (they're the lights which make white clothing/teeth look fluorescent violet... very popular in the 60s/70s and with stoners - hehe.
Yeah I guess you're right that a white cathode would look silly because of your walls. I looked at the pics you posted, and I suggested that lol
Hehe... but like I said, if it was at an ambient brightness, then it would look good. That's the idea I have going with the floor standing lamp to the left of the TV. It has a few very low wattage bulbs in it... just enough to barely light up 1/8th of the room or so in low-brightness. The kind of brightness that looks brilliant at night, but during the day it's almost impossible to tell it's switched on.
Your pad really is going to turn out to be a chick magnet when it's finished. Or a druggy flat like in Trainspotting. Either way, it'll look awesome
Good job the bong didn't quite make it in to the living area shot... lol
But yeah, having a nice big house warming party on saturday evening... ~30 people confirmed so far, ~20 girls (all but 1 single) & ~10 guys, mmmm 2-1 odds
Oh a note to OC and everyone. Sorry to have chavved up the forum with thoughts of cathode lighting like this
Your dream car?
lol
Hmmm... I should really get back to revision now... have an exam at 9-30 tomorrow morning lol :S
