do those steering wheels things work well? I now have a big desk so wondered if it's worth it!

I think so, as long as you have FFB. Without FFB, the wheel feels really light. It's also quite nice as you can tell what kind of surface you're driving on or if you're under or over steering. I dont have a clutch or a gear stick, so I still use auto transmission, but I imagine having a full setup like that makes the experience even more realistic and fun. I wouldn't ever go back to using a controller pad. (Note: I have "F1 Paddles")

You'll need to find a good way of securing your pedals down too. I've found that it can be quite frustrating when you're on the last lap, first place, and your pedals move causing you to take your eyes off the track and miss a corner. Walls or gravel are a sure-fire way of turning that first place into a last place :-)

It's well worth it mate. I was reluctant spending £160 but i enjoy racing games so i bought one of the best wheels on the market. I enjoy going to the ring and i've been getting plenty of practice on GTR2. It completly transforms the feel of the game and you start to actually sweat on games such as dirt or GTR2.

Different racing games require different settings, so it's worth googling your games and see which settings work best. You can add all your racing games to the logitech profiler, and load the game specific settings when you play the game. Once setup properley it feels very realistic. If you have laminate flooring, make sure it's squeaky clean and the pedals grip nicely. It's a bit of a pain in the ass if your chair has wheels though, because you keep rolling backwards when you hit the brake lol

Willhub, It sure is a nice desk and is bigger than it looks in the pictures. If you do get one, it's worth getting the optional glass top as this protects the wood from spilled fluids and stuff. The desk looks the same as stellios's post 1002. It's the mikael series from ikea.

They sound like very good pieces of controllerage but @ £160 it punts a hole in my wallet :S

I need to get some good driving games first!

Depends whether you want the full shebang of a gearstick or not?

I use a 360 wheel and the wireless 360 PC adapter. Much cheaper than 360.

Yeah that G25 set is around £140, I just can't justify it lol! I guess I'll stick to the good old keyboard combination for a while - If I want a 8800GTX and a 22/24" Monitor for Christmas :)

Now all I need is for my 50" HDTV to finally arrive (damn courier!) and to order a decent audio setup and I'll never leave my couch again. :)
