Does the job for now :)

Desk mod v1..

Take an Ikea Vika desk with Alex units and replace with Faktum kitchen unit which happens to be the same height and depth..

Even put a cable tidy in the back and popped some holes in the sides and added in 4 80mm fans that run from the Microserver as inlet and exhaust for when the door is closed.

Quite possibly some of the best DIY I've ever done :D

Nice little setup there - is it all used at network attached storage or are you doing lab work with it all?

Got some specs of your N40L (Mines running the modded bios ready for 6 HDD's, currently only running 3 in RAIDz w/ 8GB RAM)?

Push your PC towards the back of the unit (on the right)

The PC on the right is in a Antec 900 case, which isnt that deep, so there are about 3-4 inches of clearance at the back. I also sat it on the shelf that came with the unit so it easily slides in and out for easier access, as if its on wheels :)

So there is ventilation space on all sides, and this is my folding rig and temps are fine.

I used to have my micro server inside the desk on the left, but I had to move that elsewhere as I had no free ports left on my router once the new rig arrived. But there would be enough space inside this desk for 2 of them.

The N40L is running 8Gb and has W2008R2 installed and is running DHCP, DNS and HyperV. It's also networked storage (4x 2tb RAID0).

Just sold off my Synology 5 bay NAS (hence the empty space next to the HP) and have just received 2 eSATA DAS and an eSATA PCI card to extend the storage and back up the RAID0.

Got a HP NC364T Quad Gigabit on route also so I can start building some more VMs with dedicated LAN ports (testing firewall packages etc).

There's enough room in the unit for another N40L (or newer model) too at a later date :D

That would depend on the monitor I used to play my 360 and PS3 through monitors and they always looked better then my tv. 1920x1080 on smaller monitor eg 24" will give you more pixels per inch then a larger tv eg 37". But then your eyes are closer to the screen.

Yeah I used to have my ps3 connected to a 32" hdtv and I would always sit on a sofa a fair distance away.

Are you telling me if I sat up close to the tv the games would look worse than my monitor?
