I want to get into this Samuriza malarkey - looks pretty neat. However, I'm trying to go around their website to read up on some tutorials (I have no clue how it works) and to download the program itself, but the site is extremely slow. Is anyone else having this problem? Are there any mirrors for the installer perchance? Also, are there any other good tutorial sites?

Thanks

My tv guide tutorial is here

Also other basic guides are on the samurize website. Best thing is to just mess about with it. However, from my earlier post,

If you want to add the processor usage, in the editor right-click anywhere and select AddPerfMon. Select your processor from performance object. Then select % Processor time. Then in the right hand side select _Total.

For the temp, you have to install motherboard monitor. Or if you have an asus mobo you can download a plugin for asus probe (what I did). Then select Hardware Status -> Add MBM. Experiment with the sensor values as I don't know what yours will be. If you downloaded the asus plugin just right click and select add plugin. Select the asus plugin and whatever function you want.

For the Network stuff, add a performance monitor and select Network Interface.

For the rest, it’s a combo of adding active scripts and selecting ExtendedDrive or ExtendedProps and selecting their functions.

Thanks hottiger, I got the TV bit working using your tutorial. I take it these other scripts you talk of are on the samurize website?

It just seems heartbreakingly slow for me, navigating around etc. It's really frustrating.

Thanks for the pointers.

Yup there are guides there. I just tried going to the samurize website & I can't even connect. Maybe you should just leave it for a while. Better yet, just mess about with samurize and you'll soon learn how to use it!

Edit: The ExtendedDrive and ExtendedProps are included in Samurize. Right click in the editor, select active script, select the source tab on the right, choose the script and select what function you want. Pretty simple once you get it going

i'm using UKTV and everything works fine unless i leave it overnight. during one day, it will update fine every 5 minutes as it's supposed to, but when the listings for that day in the .txt file finish, samurize just carries on reading the old ones over and over and gets stuck at 1.00 am.

i have to reload the samurize for it to work again. is there any way to tell it to download the listings more often (rather than just update what's on the screen from the txt files).

That is a problem with the tv listings. There isn't a fix as such, but I remember reading on the samurize forums a sort of solution. I'll try to dig it up when I get a chance. Until then just restart samurize to solve the problem.

think i've found a solution but i have to wait for tonight to test it.

basicalyl in my samurize setup i've got a UKTV thing which says "updated : time/date". this thing is what gets thte listings from the internet and by default it's only run when samurize loads up. so i set the refresh interval to three hours. i'll tell you if it works/.

Hottiger - I really like your setup mate, it's clean, functional and aesthetically pleasing. I wish I had the time to sort out my samurize stuff and do that thing with the Apple icons. Still no luck on the samurize website by the way - it was passable the other day and I managed to read a couple of tutorials.

How, by the way, do you get the gradient of colour for the indicators showing the time left of the current programme? It's kind of unintuitive what just a block is showing (as per the default when using your tutorial), that shading is much better.

Keep it up

The program I use at the top for the shortcut icons is called ObjectDock, available from stardock.com.

What are you stuck on with samurize? I'll try to help :)

With the gradient colour, do this:

Click on the meter in the samurize editor & choose the general tab.
Next, underneath Alert Properties choose Value is over and 80 for the value.
Next, click on Alert colour and choose your colour, e.g. green. Do the same for Alert colour 2

Next, click on the display tab
Then, do the same with start colour & end colour
Choose alpha start as 200 & alpha end as 255
Then choose split spacing as 6 pixels, for example

Have fun :)

Thanks for the quick response.

For some reason, only one 'alert colour' box is clickable, the other one is greyed out. Is there another thing I need to do?

Edit: btw - what does alpha blending mean? Is that transparency?

Edit2: Hang on... think I might have it. I clicked on the box 'alpha end' in the display panel. That has made it gradiented. Is that how it is done with yours? Do you need the alert at all? Can you not just do it all with the display options?

Edit3: Ok it's taking shape now. Getting the hang of things. It's a really powerful program isn't it! Now I want to get the weather thingy on there. Rudeboy - yours is really good... how did you get it?

Tbh I can't remember if you can do it all with display. You can have a mess about. Its been a long time (well, a few months) since I've messed around. You can look at my editor to see if yours is the same.

Edit: Alpha blending controls transparency. Set both values to 20 for example and see what happens
