Desktops!!

Desktop icon helpage

Hey all quick question

Just downloaded a ton of really nice icons from deviant art, the high quality .png ones mostly...

Could someone tell me if you can make desktop shortcuts larger and use these icons for the desktop rather than .ico (icon files)?

Like mac os basically.

I was thinking to download edited system files or somethign that enables me to do this?

You can make large icons by going:
Display Properties>Appearence>Effects and click the "Use large icons" button ;)

I don't *think* you can use PNG's as icons, but you might be able to get a 3rd party program to convert them?

Or, you could try ObjectDock by Stardock
 
Ta, but object dock annoys me, when im playing a game, and i aim upwards, it exits out cos ive activated the zoom on the bar :E

spill the beans on how u got those large detailed icons on the desktop.. are they just ico's with 'large icons' selceted ?

theyre png's and yes im using samurize to display them. the top 2 and the one in the bottom right corner are all part of my "labels" script. if you'd like i can put up the latest variants of these at some point in the next few days although me making a guide on doing it might be more useful :p

just let me know if you want png's, walls etc off any screeny. i tend to keep most stuff
 
i'm from cleethorpes uberskilled, so u can give me a hand at creating one of ** shithot desktops mate! struggling with weather at the minute using the one off the samurize site the 1.4xml it won't load up when i try and merge it for some reason :confused:
 
Hello uberskilled, I am trying to put that matrix one on that you did and im stuck. I have the theme on and both of the samurize instances running but I don't know how to do the yz toolbar or object dock :confused: Also where did you get the wallpaper?

Thanks for the reply uberskilled :) I will try and sort it out soon and let you know if I did it ok. I couldn't find the wallpaper in the files so could you link to them please?

glad you like it!! now for the hard bit....packaging it up so it works on other pc's and also writing the readme :( they take sooo long

i dare say you're gonna want it to "work out of the box" so to speak. how capable are you with sam??? because i dont want to have to change the locations of my icons in the ini file (my icons are on a separate hard drive) if i bundle them in the zip will you be okay to link to them yourself??

it doesnt matter if not i dont mind. im just being a lazy....*ahem*

i'll have it all done and up for downloading tomorrow evening im going bowling now :D if i get back in time ill do it tonight tho

My latest :)

MSN, MS media player 9, CMD window and Slimbrowser all colour coded to theme. Wallpaper is Heavy-Rotations, I just customized it a little for samurize. The script was created from scratch. Icons I dunno where they came from. Few other customizations more that I could list.

Also I prefer not to use a third party quick launch bar. The XP way is fine for me and is just as customizable. :)

Can you say multitasking? :D
