Yep, it's a lot better if all the icons are in the quick launch! It's not going to slow down your pointy clicky speeds too much, the benefits of the tidy desktop overweigh that anyways.
I even stick My Computer icon in the quick launch.

been following this thread so had a fiddle with my desktop.
Tried samurize but I haven't got the patience to get it running how I liked.
So I ended up using litestep and rustyworks theme with a custom wallpaper

I'll probably get sick of it after a week and put a plain blue one back

Uberskilled, you do indeed live up to your name. All your desktops bar none are fantastic. I'm too ashamed to post my desktop because it's absolutely bog-standard, but I'm going to have a go at getting one like yours. Keep up the good work!

the icons are orbmilk2 but im not sure on the background. it looks like one thats been ported from yzdock.

Just downloaded a ton of really nice icons from deviant art, the high quality .png ones mostly...
