Destiny 2

Made it about 11 hours in and calling it quits as I really should get some sleep. Just unlocked the strikes and run through a few of them but so much of the maps on locations is empty still!

It really does feel like Destiny 1 done properly - it runs smooth, looks good and plenty if story telling. Also I keep finding myself choosing guns based on their sound rather than rating as some sound fantastic.

Damn, do you even remember what day light is like? ;)

Is this still only 3 player like D1? I loved the first one but my three gaming mates I played with were on far more than me and I got left behind. We often found the 3 player limitation a problem too.

So i have this pre ordered on PC but ive just caved and bought it for my PS4 too as I want to play it!!

IIRC strikes and general patrol are still 3 player (I do recall at some point a mention of 4 player fireteams but this may have been lost in translation and really meant PVP). PVP is up to 4 player fireteams (down from 6).

I didn't really catch much of the story from the first one.

That is because it was held behind vague hints, crap dialogue and Grimore not being in the game. It got better with TTK but still the majority of the actual lore was not actually in the game itself (very frustrating as it is a fascinating universe).

The music in this is fantastic......

Yup, it was in the first one as well. Last Exist (seen in Devil's lair and Winter's Kell) is my favourite.

Is it worth playing this if you haven't played the first one?

We are all starting off from equal footing again so there is not much to be lost having no played the first game. The story can be found through lore vids / guides if you really want something to go on. AS I mentioned above D1 did a terrible job of actually getting across the story it was trying to tell (there were elements that were good).

Thanks. That's a shame really. I always felt 3 player limit was a big limitation. A drop to 4vs4 from 6vs6 PVP is kinda annoying too. I take it the farm/lobby zones are still 16 players?

Is it just me that thinks the textures are really poor in some places? It looks like a last gen game. Mainly in the open areas.
Apart from this I'm enjoying it. Seems to have a lot more going on for it. Myself and a friend took around 3 minutes trying to make a very tricky jump, just kept dying over and over :D:o

IIRC the Farm is now 20-24 players (can't remember the exact number).

Having played the beta the 4v4 felt quite nice. I imagine the maps are designed with this in mind (the two in the beta were quite small).

To be honest I am ambivalent about the PVP change overall. I do however like the fact more focus is being put on gunplay and working as team (going 1v3 against half decent players = insta death).
