Detailing Stages

Well that was my second attempt at using it, just firing it into the bath. When I first tried using it on my car I had to reverse out of a parking space which left my car blocking the way.

Not good at 13:30 in the afternoon, I also had problems with the hydroshot hose as it needs to be straight in order to get a good flow of water from the bucket and mine was curled up a bit so I wasn’t getting a very good spray at all.

At least when I tested it by firing it into the bath I got the full spray rate so I know there’s not an issue with the connection to the foam cannon. I also figured out how to adjust the foam cannons settings which helped.

I need to set my alarm and get up one morning at 4am when I won’t be obstructing anybody and use it then. At the end of the day it’s only a 22 bar 320 PSI unit so you can’t expect miracles.

It works as best as it can with the tools at my disposal and it’s better than nothing.

While it may not leave a thick layer of foam on the car it does leave some nice suds...

Its better than nothing and what is good about the foam cannon is that it holds much more liquid than the soap dispenser.

I don't know if you noticed but this spec of dirt...

Came off when I rinsed the car down after applying Polar Blast and leaving it for 10 minutes. I don't know whether that was because of the Polar Blast or it would have come off anyway. I'd like to think it was the cleaning power of the Polar Blast.

Nice foam! I’m happy enough with my hydroshot and I presume applying snow foam without a higher pressure washer will still have some cleansing effects even without all that foam!

However, the Greenworks is ridiculously expensive for what it is. Brand new the unit is .c £149 (can go down to £100 to £125 on deal) but that's without any batteries or charger - being 40V batteries they're expensive and you need min 1 x 4aH. You're looking at £250 to £300 for the unit with 1 x 4aH battery and charger

You're not far off. I've priced one up its £ 296.14 inc VAT for a Greenworks GDC40, a Greenworks 40V 4.0Ah Battery and a Greenworks Battery Charger G40UC.

Pricey just to have proper foam when my Hydroshot does almost everything else I want. I'll have to think about it.

@Mekrel Do you know what Watt Hour Wh the Greenworks 40V 4.0Ah Battery is? It should say on the battery itself.

If I do go ahead with the purchase I’ll need to order a battery from eBay and get it shipped to an address in Portsmouth who will forward it on to me in Jersey. This will cost me an extra £ 9.99 and I won’t get the VAT off the battery.

As it’s a battery Amazon won’t ship anything with a battery in it directly to me. I’ve got a £ 25 gift card to use up on Amazon and with the VAT off the charger and unit itself I’m looking at £ 240 all in.

I’ve looked into the foam cannon and I believe the Greenworks uses the 1/4 quick connector as well.

It's 144Wh, just an FYI but I would stay away from any unofficial battery as I ordered one from eBay and I've had issues where the machine runs for 5 seconds before cutting out. Usually, I don't bother with unofficial batteries but the listing stated it used Sony or LG cells and had all protection circuitry.

The battery I was looking at on eBay was directly from Greenworks themselves. However if the battery is over 100Wh I will most likely be charged for a dangerous goods notice costing an extra £ 25.

Just to confirm it does use the 1/4 quick connector for the foam cannon connection?

See my edit regarding the 1/4 quick connect. Annoyingly, the new update for my phone is making the keyboard enter new line returns hence why my post was gigantic.

Thanks do you have a link to the adapter needed which fits the 1/4 Lance? Also maybe I should buy two 2.0Ah batteries instead of the one 4.0Ah which should be under 100Wh thereby avoiding the extra £ 25 expense.

What I’m mainly interested in is the 70 bar rating, I don’t know of any other cordless ones which are as powerful as that. I might not go through with it yet due to the battery shipping issue.

If you can find another cordless pressure washer as powerful then please let me know.

Found this...

https://comparisonbattle.com/greenworks-40v-vs-80v/

“Greenworks 40v”

“This battery comes with a charging time which is different from the Greenworks 80v battery. The 2.0 Ah batteries come with up to 72 watt-hours and a charging time of fewer than 60 minutes. The 2.5 Ah batteries come with up to 90 watt-hours and a charging time of fewer than 90 minutes. The Greenworks 3.0 Ah batteries come with up to 120 watt-hours and a charging time of fewer than 90 minutes. The 4.0 Ah batteries come with up to 144 watt-hours and a charging time of fewer than 120 minutes. The Greenworks 5.0 Ah batteries come with up to 180 watt-hours and charging time fewer than 120 minutes. The 6.0 Ah batteries come with up to 216 watt-hours and a charging time of fewer than 150 minutes.”

So the most powerful battery I can get shipped would be the 2.5 Ah 90 watt hours, now to find one at a decent price which is not as easy as it sounds.

Well I've ordered a Greenworks Cordless High-Pressure Cleaner GDC40, the Greenworks Battery Charger G40C and the genuine Greenworks 40V 4.0Ah Battery from Greenworks themselves. Comes to £ 270.31 which includes the £ 25 dangerous goods notice (DGN) because the battery is over 100Wh. I also used a £ 25 Amazon gift voucher.

I had £ 500 saved for a graphics card but the prices are still way higher than I want to pay so am using that money to pay for this.

@Mekrel Can you tell me more about this adapter I need to fit the MJJC foam cannon onto the GDC40, does it fit on the cannon itself or the pressure washer?

It fits onto the Cannon, there's a back plastic finger nut on the foam cannon that you undo, then this one screws on. You then push the other end into the lance and twist to lock. To remove you push the fitting further into the lance (this disengages the lock) and twist back out.

Ok I’ve PayPal you, thanks for making the effort to post it to me very grateful, thanks again.

@Mekrel Getting my bits together, have the Greenworks main unit and my foam cannon with the adapter you so kindly sent to me...

Just waiting for the battery from Portsmouth and the charger, which on that note has been sitting in my Amazon order for 5 days. But I just tried to cancel and wasn't able to so looks like it will be shipping soon.

So the Greenworks main unit was £ 124.99 ex VAT, the 40V 4.0Ah Battery was £ 99.99 inc VAT and delivery to Portsmouth. Delivery from Portsmouth to Jersey was a further £ 9.99. I didn't get charged anything for dangerous goods so saved £ 25 there and the rapid battery charger was £ 49.99 ex VAT.

So in total £ 284.96 - £ 25.84 leftover Amazon gift voucher. On Amazon themselves everything above all on one order comes to £ 308.31 ex VAT. So I've saved £ 23.35 by buying separately.

I'm not sure how far your water source is from the car but the bucket when full with water is pretty heavy. It's a struggle for me with two flights of stairs and I'm a fairly fit 35 year old. So would recommend not filling it to the top and topping it up when in situ from another .

I’ve got to go down four flights of stairs to the underground car park, so I might take it down empty and put it in locked shed. Then fill two buckets with water and take them down. Put that into it and then do the same again when needed. Even carrying two buckets of water is pretty heavy and I’m a fairly unfit 46 year old.

Just filled a 10L watering can with water and it was quite heavy but manageable. Main problem was that as it was filled to the brim water was leaking out when I moved it.

My buckets hold 14.7L each so if I fill them with approximately 10L I should be able to carry them. The Greenworks holds 20L but is quite heavy without any water in it and 20L of water is quite heavy in itself.
