Deus Ex: Mankind Divided (Square Enix Reveal new Deus Ex)

I feel your pain - I have to have V-Sync off and cap framerate with G-Sync on to get even close to playable - V-Sync on even with G-Sync or even FastSync results in unplayable input lag and even then there is some mouse acceleration and some symptoms of the sensitivity changing with framerate :( really not acceptable in 2016 - its made the game pretty much unplayable for me.

Have no idea what the playtesters for PC were doing as aim down sights is incredibly bad with horrid FOV change, horrid sensitivity and pretty ugly results.

Weaker than Invisible War, in your opinion, Rroff? Personally, I liked that game, though the first is still my overall favourite. Haven't tried the latest one yet. :)

I do like Jensen's sense of humour:

Jensen: Who's your source?
K: Voices in the dark, man.
The moment you fall asleep is the moment they start talking.
Psst! *whisper whisper* that's what I hear!
Whispers out of reach,
it's like a scent,
something no one can hold on to...
Jensen: So you've no idea.

TBH I've not got that far into it yet - I've found the UI and mechanics related to it a lot harder to get into than previous DX games (further complicated by a few things not working properly) compounded with ropey mouse input - most times I've played for about 5 minutes and found that stuff too detracting and gone and done something else instead.

I found they keyboard and mouse set up for this was just off ended up switching over to xbox pad, human revolution was fine though using kbd and mouse

I was reading through the achievments last night. Can't believe I missed the Penguin King one. I actually picked it up thinking it was a little too odd for just a random item. Ah well next time.

Some improvements to the mouse code atleast - the scale on the sliders has changed so people may need to change that and much of the swingy/laggy feel has gone (though still not quite right). I seem to have lost a good chunk of performance though (DX11) - dropping to 51fps where I was at 62fps before the patch :( and around 15% performance drop running around the 2 rooms I was in before the patch (I'm not on the latest driver as that had a few issues for some people on the 1070 so may be related).

someone test dx12 see if any beneficial performance boost

Be nice if it improved visual quality noticeably at the same performance level.

I have this game and have invested so little time in it so far because of the performance issues. I am a 60 fps snob and I genuinely believe that at some point the game will get patched to enable that on my rig. My rig should be able to handle it!

Looks like they've tweaked shadow quality a bit or something (which might explain some of the fps loss) - before anything below very high had quite noticeable running artefacts on the edge of shadows but now you have to turn it down below high before you see them and very high seems to be a bit more detailed in some areas like with intricate fence shadows where they were quite pixelated before.

Well I'm happy with the DX 12 patch. I too noticed the shadows seem deeper than before - looks significantly better. I'm running a Fury X at 3440x1440 and still on Crimson 16.8.2 drivers and have the following settings...

I start with the High settings pre-set then change:
- Texture quality to Ultra
- turn off Motion Blur (cause I don't like it and worth 3-4 FPS)
- increase AO to Very High
- increase Level of Detail to Very High.

Previously the benchmark with DX11 was:

Average FPS: 40.2
Min FPS: 22.3
Max FPS 52.6

With DX 12 and the same settings I now bench:

Average FPS: 42.7
Min FPS: 33.4
Max FPS 54.8

It's all about keeping the frame rates within the freesync range (30 - 75 FPS) for me so delighted the minimum frames aren't dropping below 30. :D

Might try the latest drivers later to see if that makes a difference...

Edit: just installed 16.9.1 drivers - now getting a 5.6 increase on average FPS and 16 FPS on the minimum compared to DX11:

Average FPS: 45.8
Min FPS: 38.3
Max FPS 57.7

Happy days! So long stutters...

I completed Desperate Measures the other day. It was quite obviously originally part of the main game and has been chopped out to be a pre-order exclusive. You travel everywhere by cutscene/black screen quick cuts. The mission itself was reasonably fun but seemed cut short just like the main game. Not sure why that's a "Jensen story" either - nothing about Jensen! I'll definitely be waiting for reviews on the DLC.
