First off I really hope this isn't a pearost, I did search first and I couldn't see anything obvious. I apologize if this thread is redundant before it's even started! Anyway on with the good stuff.

The "New Vision" high-res textures mod for Deus Ex went in to public beta in the last couple of days. Apparently it's addressed something like 65% of the textures so far and it also contains a new opengl renderer.

You can download it from:

Thanks to the UT engine's unrelenting squareness, it's actually quite hard to see the difference. That said, it is making me want to try DX again. I haven't played some of the later levels in some time.

Has anyone managed to get Dues Ex working on Vista 64 SP1? I'd like to try it again with this mod, but so far my attempts at getting the GOTY Dues Ex to run have failed, have tried the computability stuff for win98 and XP as well as a natural install.

according to the comments for this mod it appears to be an april fool.

That would be a shame if it was.
I wouldn't have posted this if it was an April fool. I assure you it is not one.

I have it installed, and the HR textures really show. While it's not a complete revamp of the game it's certainly a very nice and very welcome addition.

All we've really had is talk about about high res texture packs for this game, with only one small preview pack ever having been released until now. This is huge for the Deus Ex fans and I'd hate to see some of those fans miss out on it because they think it's an April fool.

That's good to hear, its one of the best PC Games ever IMHO, nothing more than a graphic overhaul is all that's needed.

Now ... can anyone get it to work with Vista 64 SP1 on a C2D E8*** series, all latest drivers and updates ETC? Even using compatibility mode for XP and Win98 I cant even get the install to finish, in fact using compatibility mode it wont even start installing, so with native Vista It just stops installing at the final hurdle while decompressing files as I recall, tried leaving it at this stage for about an hour one night but no joy.

I really want to finish this Game, even have my save games from when I last played it over a year ago.

This is the GOTY version BTW.
