Benitez probably wont improve on what Di Matteo has done this season, no way i can see Chelsea being a better team with Benitez managing them, get ready to question several decisions Benitez makes during a game.
I could improve on RDM, **** manager using **** tactics. RA was prefectly tight to sack him. 100 million in the summer and they are playing ale house football in Europe being outplayed by everyone and anyone.
100 million what, pesos? lira? I thought it was about £70/80m but either way most of that was spent by RA himself chosing the players for Chelsea, rather than by RDM, so you can hardly blame the manager.
There are plenty of things wrong with Chelsea, and maybe as others have pointed out it was wrong to give Roberto the job full time in the summer but dont blame him for the Fantasy Football signings chosen by the owner (just as Torres and plenty of others were previous to that).

Yeah, no one else wanted Hazard, it was pure fantasy football, in the real world he's no good and nothing can be gotten for him... same for Torres and others.
In reality, owners can buy whoever they want, managers can act put out by being given extra talent, make a meal out of it and cry like girls(Mourinho) or they can go... wait, I have no problem having extra top players, I'll make full use of them.
Most managers wanted Torres, Ballack was great for Chelsea after Mourinho left, Drogba was a Mourinho buy, and got worse under Mourinho and better under everyone else.
I still find it hilarious that people use "owner buys top notch players" as a stick to beat him with, because afaik, a single manager, who is a gobby ****, had a problem with it. Why did Roman start making buys instead of Mourinho... because Mourinho bought anyone and everyone, and the club took huge hits getting rid of most of the waste he brought in.
At Real he had most of the team in place before he joined, and of those he's brought since, Modric has failed to make any impact, Ozil was fine, but cheap and everyone was after him, Khedira... meh, I forget if it was him that bought Sahin... meh, Coentrao... rubbish, most expensive buy and by FAR the biggest waste of cash, 30mil for a very very average, at best, left back.... Essien on loan this season?
Mourinho had a blank cheque, and completely and utterly wasted it, then threw his toys out the pram when the blank cheque was taken away from him, he has exactly no one else to blame but himself. Since then I don't actually remember anyone complaining when they got Torres(if Ancelloti didn't want him), and which manager would complain about getting Hazard in, lots wanted Oscar(Utd were in for both weren't they, and City were in for Hazard).
Sorry, 80 million quid in the summer and his team were playing alehouse football that Wimbeldon in their heyday would have been embarrased about.
And as a chelsea fan you are really going to whinge about RA buying the players? Why weren't you saying during the other billion odd quid he has thrown at your team??

Indeed, but there are less cringeworthy ways to do so than bringing up an award that no-one cares about.
To Benitez's credit, I felt he handled the questions re: his rivalry with Chelsea at Liverpool well at the press conference yesterday.

I'd love to know which straw it was that broke the camels back between Fergie and Benitez, I remember in Rafa's first season Fergie was quite complementary of him so it must have been in 08/09 when Benitez went mental?

When he won the CL in his 1st season equalling fergie's haul (at the time) and then started beating you lot regularly. We all know how fergie is obessed with us, he didnt like that much.

But, Liverpool were not a threat.
Rafa pressed his own self destruct button and the rest is history.
Not at all, the season of his 'facts' speech if Gerrard hadn't been a pillock (that allowed?) and got into a fight with that DJ and if the team had beaten stoke (the game that directly followed his speech) then we would have won the league.
People like to bash Rafa but he is a great manager and fans outside of Liverpool don't know how close to the wire we were to doing a rangers, yes he took his eye of the ball in his last season but all things considered I'm grateful he did otherwise who knows where my club would be.
