** Diablo 4 Thread **

That would be fine if they hadn't made ppl jump through hoops to get access to it.
Not really that many hoops is it, preorder it , or have an O2 account, or have a Virgin account, amongst other means. I mean all I did was literally log into Battlenet and click preorder, thats it. Took mere moments, I didnt have any hoops to jump through other than that. Now granted, I'm not a young man anymore my keyboard and mouse skills are not as adept as they once were but I've not yet reached the stage where I was unable to click a button :D

omg the combine vs uncombine is awful, worse controls than D3?

can't assign force move to mouse wheel up/down

map is pants, can't have an outline open like every other arpg

Good to see some people have managed to get in though not even remotely unsurprising that there are hour+ long queues. Much as I'd like to give the game a go I'm just not prepared to pay £60 for any game so it's unlikely I'll be playing D4 for a couple of years until it's on sale.

Doh... all my npcs just vanished and the map stopped updating. I suspect that I've lost connection and am simply running around because I've effectively already loaded this part of the map. Exited and logging back in. 20min wait.

I been really lucky and got a good 4/5 hr stint (I logged in at 4 and somehow beat the queues lol), just got my first d/c just now. I think it's really hard to tell as we're only in first act, but I think it feels more like an mmo than an arpg atm. Enjoying it, but it doesn't feel like the same sort of game yet.

I guess, if playing Devils Advocate, one could technically argue that its a beta and you have to expect beta things to happen in a beta.

Lvl 9 now and feels like the difficulty just stepped up a little, gone from happily jaunting along in hardcore tier 2, to almost dying 3 times and barely surviving the encounter, which is much better. I expect to die and lose my character a lot so was a bit concerned earlier on that it was a bit easy but glad to see its working its way up in difficulty a bit more now

I would agree with you, if, it wasn't the same for Diablo 3. I remember having to wait days, before I could actually play the game I pre ordered. Managed to get in and get to level 8 so far, before getting kicked in the middle of a tomb. Wouldn't let me get back in, so am going to call it a night. It's an enjoyable game so far, nothing amazing, but having fun exploring and killing things with the ice bolt :D

Oh dont get me wrong, I agree with you, the servers were always going to fall over , almost every hugely popular online multiplayer game, be it a shooter, an MMO or an arpg, has fallen over on a launch. Its just one of those things that you sort of expect. Anyone that doesnt is being pretty naive really. My point really was that things are going to go wrong in a beta, I would never ever criticise any game for bugs and issues in beta because its beta - (unless it was simply a shockingly bad game, which lets be honest, this isnt) - I would have course critique them for bugs and issues in release though.

I mean I saw one guy in chat complaining rather OTT-ly (probably just an attention seeker who entered the beta with his closed mind already made up) that the sound was crackly and cutting out in voice chat. A prime example of someone who doesnt understand the potential differences between beta and demo, though like I say I think he already had his mind made up on the game before even creating a character with the way he was overcooking the issue.

I agree, the MMO DNA is quite evident. To me, it feels like a cross between Lost Ark and PoE. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but you can see already there are several layers of mechanics/grind that will become a major time sink. The game is much slower paced compared to D3, and some of the dungeon bosses are quite hard ( for my squishy mage on World Tier 2 ). Overall I'm enjoying it, server disconnects aside.

Got my first Legendary off a treasure goblin, right before I logged off for the night : a Band of Control ( ring ) which grants + rank to Frost Nova. Guess I'm respeccing my sorceror tomorrow :D

What sort of features were you hoping for? Genuine question.

well that's hard to say (cop out it's not my job to design new game systems)

the reuse though of old D3 enemy types is awful in the new gritty setting. Having a waller or X appear and do something totally stupid and immersion breaking just sums up D4 for me right now

oh god, loot goblins in a dark themed diablo game

Well to be fair you were always going to get stuff like wallers, they've been in Diablo games since Diablo 1
