** Diablo 4 Thread **

Good so far aye, hard to say vs. Diablo 3 though as it's too early. Even D3 beta back in the day was good up to Skeleton King as we had no context on how it played at later levels and what end-game was like.

I like hardcore but 2 days of beta, and dying 4 times aint good haha. Won't even touch the sides.

I am still Rogue, I will try barb next :)

I want to team up with some people, any one fancy it? getting a bit slow doing it solo @Teaf @Tombstone more fun with group.
I'd be up for grouping, in a full group with some mates and the other half (who annoyingly hasnt died once yet :) ) at the moment but happy to group up at some point when I'm not fully partied. As with all diablo-clones, always better with company !

Not really feeling it tbh. I want to zoom out so I can see twice as much stuff, feels really dumbed down having it zoomed in so far. Zooming out would have course highlight that the maps are linear, it's not like D2 where you have a whole field to explore. Feels very geared towards dopamine hits, which was expected with mtx in the game, but it does take all the fun out of it for me - I'm not feeling like I'm actually achieving anything, every click is serving some marketing overlord rather than actually providing me enjoyment.

Sounds good, what is your battlenet? can jump in when you're ready.

A lot of people are saying this but it's fine for me, but I am using ultrawide so I can see a lot more.

Isnt the mtx just cosmetics though?

Look on the plus side, at least you've tried it in beta, dont like it and know that you dont want to play it at release and so dont need to spend any money buying it. This is why all games should have an open beta so that people can find out if the game is for them, this one isnt for you but at least you know that now and can happily move on knowing that you dont need to open your wallet for this one. So its a win if you look at it that way.

I'm thoroughly enjoying it, though my barbarian just died again :D

Welp, I got one shot - coming from playing Diablo 3 recently and not at a high level the combat is just different enough for me. Might have to start on non HC though as I am obviously nowhere near as good as I think :D

I appreciate why people play HC for the extra thrill of things, but I also hate the idea of losing my character to poor luck, or to server issues.

So to save myself the sad times, I just play normie mode :)

Been playing since around 7am as Barb. I'm really enjoying it so far. I really like the little world events, especially when more people turn up or you stumble across one already in progress. Feels like I'm playing an MMO rather than a Diablo game.
Looking forward to the world boss tonight at 5pm and 7pm. No doubt i'll be lvl 25 by then. That will be more fun than watching Lando qualify 14th for sure.
Only seen a few obvious bugs so far.

  • Invisible walls when entering areas
  • Died then spawned invisible
What is a bit annoying for me though, is having to run all over the place for stash/gems/blacksmith etc. I understand they have designed it like a town but I really would appreciate vendors and stash a bit closer together.

So far so good.

Lunch then back to Whirlwinding my way through the Fractured Peaks :D

My stance after spending a few more hours with my 25 sorc and trying out Rogue and Barb.

Is the game good, it's fun, but everything feels samey. The dungeons are basically all copy pasted layouts with different texture packs, the open world events are ok I guess, they don't really bring anything substantial that hasn't been done before by anyone else.

Gear feels incredibly simplistic, so I hope it does get a little more complex and build defining later on, without having any idea what end game systems will be present, as the game stands now, I'd expect 40-50 hours from it, which to be honest is good enough for me

Is it better than PoE, graphically yes, story yeah, gameplay. Subjective. PoE has a decade of content. PoE 2 will compete graphically and possibly story wise with a reduction in complexity. Last Epoch feels more feature rich than D4 and that is also in beta.

Had a good few hours on it today as Barbarian. Enjoying it so far but very annoying you can't do the class quest as it's in a restricted area.

Having fun regardless though :)

I'd agree on the whole. Definitely subjective, for me I would rather play the D4 beta than spend even 5 more minutes in PoE, I find PoE repugnant now.

EDIT : to clarify this, its not that PoE is a bad game, its not, its just that PoE is so far away from the style of game that I would want to spend time playing that I have no desire to log into it. D4 so far feels like fun to me, last time I played PoE it felt like work.

PoE2, will have to wait and see on that one, if its more of the same PoE gameplay style then I'm not at all interested in it.

I hear that quite a few people seem to like Last Epoch, havent tried that one myself but loving the D4 beta and with D4 now just 3 months away I doubt I will try LE at this point in time, I might give it a try somewhere down the road once I have finished with D4 though
