** Diablo 4 Thread **

Bit disappointed as I felt as a casual player, it really helped to improve the game play. I just don't have the time to spend hours and hours grinding away, hoping I get a new piece of equipment. In the beta I found something new and interesting every 30 minutes or so. Even if it wasn't a direct improvement in stats, I found something which allowed me to try a new play style, with new skills. If they are going to reduce the drops, I wont be buying it on day one.

You'll never be able to keep up the pace of getting a new and interesting item every 30 minutes though. The better your items get, the longer it's going to take to get another item to replace it. Eventually your gear will be so good it could take days to find an upgrade. If you have loot dropping like a pinata from every monster all you do is reach that point faster where upgrades are extremely scarce and suddenly you are very quickly at where you say you don't want to be - spending hours and hours grinding away finding nothing.

To be honest I never saw any notification of a world boss in chat or on my screen as a system message, the only thing I could see was the icon in the world boss area appeared and it has an inverse progress bar showing how long until it spawned. When it wasn't up or when the event wasn't soon active there no was icon at all.
I seem to recall getting a message that I needed to make my way to some area, can't recall exactly what is said now. See what happens in the open beta.

Unless this weekend is a complete poo show, I'm pretty much sold on this game and will stick with the pre-order. Looking at the different versions, what are you going with and why? I have the standard edition pre-ordered, but considering the Ultimate. Is it worth it?

Depends if you think the season content is going to be worth it to you or not. I went with the ultimate edition, but to be honest I think I'll end up being disappointed with seasons in the long run. But if I'm already spending £89.99, what's another £10 ?

I don't think you need the higher tier purchases to access seasons - the battle pass basically lets you complete the season content and get the rewards more quickly as I understand it.

"The Season pass gives players greater rewards as they play more throughout the Season. It is divided between free tiers (unlocked just by playing the game and leveling), and premium tiers, which provide no in-game power or advantage over other players. The free tiers of the pass will provide gameplay boosts to all players—things which make the journey of leveling up a fresh seasonal character faster and more streamlined. In contrast, the premium tier rewards are focused on aesthetics, providing a huge value in the form of cosmetics and premium currency. "

I know, seasons are accessible to any player. But the deluxe and ultimate editions give you extra perks ( a battlepass ) for the first season.

They do this for all beta tests like d3

I went for the deluxe for the 4 day headstart

Damn. The FOMO is going to be real. :D

That being said, it gives them 4 days to sort out the queues and server crashes before I start ;)
My theory is that the servers are most likely to buckle when the masses get in on the 6th, so by having the 4 day headstart I will have at least ensured that I get 4 days of play before the servers implode. Plus I'm off work on the week of the 5th anyway so might as well use the Monday on Diablo 4 before the standard release on the Tuesday :)

The general release date will be chaos. I wanted the extra 4 days, and the other stuff the Ultimate gave, may as well just chop in the extra £30 for it all :)

Not like £60 is a super cheap standard version. If the game is good on release then I also feel like I'm contributing to the development a bit going forwards.

The open beta today will be an indication of what happens on the full release date.

To be fair, the closed beta actually started okay, I was able to log in within 5 minutes. It buckled when they had to do a last minute patch and evict everyone from the servers / restrict sessions on their backend.
