Diane Abbott suspended as Labour MP after racism letter - BBC News

The MP says she apologises "for any anguish caused" and wishes to "unreservedly" withdraw her remarks.

"In the letter, she wrote: "In pre-civil rights America, Irish people, Jewish people and Travellers were not required to sit at the back of the bus.

"In apartheid South Africa, these groups were allowed to vote."

She is wrong, she only goes far back as she wants to. The moors in Spain for 800 years, subjected the Spainish to unbelievable racism is third people in their own country.

I can't stand the woman, but just like Dominic Raab's alleged "bullying" resignation, I think there's an overreaction to her words. Why are people expected to walk as if on eggshells all the time, she's obviously got some sort of chip on her shoulder and isn't the sharpest knife in the drawer, so gaffes are surely expected by now and to be ridiculed like most of her interviews.

She many not be that bright, but she can cause damage.

The son to private school really made me annoyed.

I think she thought she was untouchable or she is just a fool. I suspect it was both.

Anyone photographed in public wearing shoes on the wrong feet shouldn’t be anywhere near public office. Whatever side of the divide you sit on you must admit the current crop of politicians are truly garbage.

There is literally nobody, anywhere near prominent roles in the UK government/opposition or the in the Scottish government (and my understanding from Welsh friends is that the Welsh assembly is the same), that is remotely statemen like. In all my years it's never been this bad and the rot has really set in in the last 10 years or so. For all his failings the likes of Blair and even Cameron at least had some credibilty to them.
