Interesting. I would have expected AMD to have something to go against the 980/970. This doesn't look good for the future if they have nothing.
AMD is only going to worry if the 980 is a monster, specs certainly don't look that way.
If it's not faster than Titan Black, the gpu landscape has no change.
They should have cancelled both R9 285 and 285X
Unless it offers 90% of the performance at 60% of the power consumption.
Gregster you know by now that this is normal for AMD, and there almost always way late to join the partyInteresting. I would have expected AMD to have something to go against the 980/970. This doesn't look good for the future if they have nothing.

Irrelevant to>99% of users, if the AMD equivalent offers 95% performance for a third less outlay, how long would it take to claw back £150+ in leccy bills?
Next to no one looks at how much leccy they can save when purchasing, it's all about power/performance at this end.

For reference the the rumored 970 price point is $330 MSRP.
I would rather they gave more into R&D than spamming forums/tech sites with "we are the good guys" image. Whilst I am not a fan of AMD, I still want to see them doing well and competing with nVidia/Intel. Take G-Sync as an example. AMD boasted that they had the tech for years but it took nVidia to release G-Sync (sure at a cost) before they decided to use the tech they had and it still isn't here.... Talk about missing an opportunity.![]()
@Alatar, according to those figures 980 faster than Titan Black then?
Yes. Why wouldn't it be?
And the 970 should be almost as fast as a 290X for much less money. Faster than the 290 but considerably cheaper msrp.

I think thats probably wishful thinking, the 290X is £330, the 290 is £250. the 780 is £310
If you think the 970 is going to be, what £220? i think your living in a fantasy.
980 Around £500, 970 around £400, or 980 £450, 970 £350 if your lucky.
The 670 was £350

http://www.fudzilla.com/home/item/35793-nvidia-adjusted-launch-price-of-gtx-980-and-gtx-970While the price was set at US $599 for the Geforce GTX 980 and the US $399 for the for the Geforce GTX 970, Nvidia apparently decided to cut it down significantly, down to US $549 for the Geforce GTX 980 and US $329 for the GTX 970. The price of the Geforce GTX 970 is actually US $299, but for reference design and since most, if not all, AIB partners will come up with a custom GTX 970 design from day one, the expected price on the market is set at US $329.
