Did CERN just break physics?

I've never understood why something could never go faster than light anyway. It's just speed.

Einstein wrong then. Hmm, either he did the biggest 'bazinga' on humanity or he totally screwed up.

Depends really, a lot of scientists will prove something because they want it to be true, they won't look outside of the box for the possibility of debunking their own belief.

Einstein was wrong about many things, and many of his theories were disproved by other scientists even when he was alive and kicking in the classrooms.

It is really annoying that Steven Hawking came down with that illness, he would be the perfect person to start looking into this, and heck, given the freedom to freely speak with others he could have torn Einstein's E=MC2 apart a long time ago.

Einstein may have been wrong about some things... but one thing he has never been wrong about is Special Relativity. SR has been proved by every test of it's theories and predictions that have been made, it simply works. E does equal MC2 I'm afrain, there's no "tearing it apart" !!!

Because to accellerate something with mass to the speed of light requires infinite energy... so the power of the whole universe (no matter how small the mass is!).

Further, if you could have mass travelling faster than light speed then under Special Relativity causality is broken. You would be able to send a signal back in time in that case....

Interesting snippet about the supernova I didn't know. So if Einstein's theory still stands, how can the neutrinos from that explosion get here 3 hours earlier than the light?

Lol at the backroom scientists who can, with so much confidence, sit there and state categorically that it's impossible, referencing E=MC2 as irrefutable fact for no reason other than "Just because"

Because you understand the concepts involved, right?

Nobody does, they only theorise them and test them for soundness. Why do you believe you, and the persons you are quoting, are incapable of being wrong about a theory.

E=MC2 is a theory, nothing more. It might never be "broken" in the time of the human race as we currently know it. But for you to sit here now and truly believe that it never will be based on what we believe to be true now then just...well....lol.

You can speculate, but you certainly cannot dictate.

Most physicists, including the professor who taught me relativity at university, are doubting the results too.

There is nothing wrong with doubting it, I doubt it also. No more or less than I doubt E=MC2 though.

Believing for a fact one way or the other is a whole different thing however. It's basically spitting in the face of science itself to sit there and be stubborn and ignorant and scream ITS IMPOSSIBLE YOU ARE DOING IT WRONG.

i would love to be on the same page as them, nothing would be the same again

i was thinking of cracking open a stella and shouting YEAH every now and then
