Did Pewdiepie delete his youtube account? !! !

Ah right. Adblock and Ghostery stop these people from making millions ? I'm good with that.

Seriously. I still can't understand how ads on You Tube can generate millions.

Is there a whole world of retarded people buying into everything that's advertised?

Just viewing the ads generates the youtubers money, they dont need to click on them.
Millions of views = thousands of pounds.

Depends heavily on
1) CPM (Cost per mile ) in the Country you got the most no of views
2) Ad inventory for that particular period of time.

But usually 1million for the top guys is in the thousands.
Thats not including the merchandise stores they all have and people buy for some reason?????? and things they can do on the side to get more, due to there wealth.

Good on them tbh, they found a way to make "easy" money (They say they work much more hours than a normal job, don't believe it but meh) and are rolling with it, most of them couldn't give a monkeys if youtube died as they have millions in the bank already and can live however they like. They got into youtube back when it was starting out and had years to generate an audience and a style, it can't be done by new people as everything has been covered already theres no room for anything else. Like have you seen most of there houses? like captain sparkles? syndicate? you will NEVER have that type of house, ridiculous money. Syndicate doesn't even make content anymore (not as much as he used to, like a video or two a month if that) he just does vlogs because he's got so much money he doesn't need to do anything.

Because he's a crook

Just looked it up just to be sure:

edgelord
A poster on an Internet forum, (particularly 4chan) who expresses opinions which are either strongly nihilistic, ("life has no meaning," or Tyler Durden's special ********* speech from the film Fight Club being probably the two main examples) or contain references to Hitler, Nazism, fascism, or other taboo topics which are deliberately intended to shock or offend readers.

The term "edgelord," is a noun, which came from the previous adjective, "edgy," which described the above behaviour.
Nietzsche was an edgelord before it was cool.

So now we know :p

A lot of 'rustled jimmies' in this thread, yes I just learnt that phrase. Seems to be a lot of people posting who claim to have no interest and yet appear every few posts, how odd.

He's usually all over the trending section so unless you are selectively blind I doubt you wouldn't know who he is, especially lately. Hes been in a lot of news articles.

Hes probably trying to be an Edgelord. There is no other reason to go into a thread of someone you don't know, ignore all the posts and then say "who is he?".

"If I pretend to not know who he is people might like me".

I totally agree with this, it's really pathetic to come into a thread to say 'Who?'. I'd never heard of him so Googled and found it quite interesting.
However, I use You Tube every day and I can honestly say I've never heard of him because I know what I'm searching for so never go into the different sections. I don't play games so I'd never see something come up on teh right side, all mine are usually music based.
Today I went to a couple of blokes in the office who are also gamers and they had never heard of him however one of the women knew who he was "My Sons watch him all the time and he's quite funny". They are both in their early teens.

I watch those videos and he never appears on my related . Now you made me search for him you have cursed me, 30 seconds in and he is screaming like a 7yr old and I will have a headache if I dont near mute him.
Still I know who he was beforehand though. He makes a lot of money and lives in UK apparently, he was mentioned on the twitch thread as being a millionaire I think

The term "edgelord," is a noun
memelord maybe

I dont understand how be became so rich when to be honest, his channel and content is nothing special.

Im in the wrong job,Think il start a YT channel and become rich.

His content isn't special now but that is because the youtube thing has become saturated. Now every other person fancies themselves a youtuber and the pursuit of views makes everyone look try hard and similar.

If you think you can appeal to an audience large enough to pay a living, go ahead and quit and give it a go but i would think of a plan b before doing anything.

Content does not have to be special or appealing to everyone to be worth a lot. Look at 50 shades of grey - a poorly written, smut gimmick developed from twilight fan fiction. Still earned a pretty penny by appealing to a a niche crowd.

It isn't anything special but he was one of the first and that's all that matters. So many factors come in to why something becomes popular but most of it is simply down to being in the right place at the right time. If it wasn't him it just could've easily been someone else.

Becoming famous gamer on Youtube is hard. Seriously, seriously hard. It takes absolute dedication, excellent editing skills, a great personality, buckets of luck and more dedication. I doff my hat to the likes of Pewdiepie. Trust me, he didn't get there by simply playing games. He's worked his arse off to get to where he is. On video you guys see him playing games and laughing a lot, what you don't see are the insane amount of hours required to get the footage, edit it, render it, upload it, and start all over again.

Is it a career for me? Not really, but if he enjoys it then fair play to him.

My boys enjoy this sort of crap. 10 & 11yrs old... I don't quite understand how anyone could watch it. Its annoying. But they seem to lap it up. Dont' think this dude is on their subscribed list tho.

Spot on. 99.99999% of people here couldn't do it even if they really wanted to, and he deserves credit for that. Whether you like him or not, he's creatively talented and a savvy businessman.

Totally agree on the hard work required to make it big (plus a lot of luck), but I very much doubt he still edits his own videos these days.

He has editors now but until very recently he edited it all himself. To be fair, he is self taught and his time is likely far better spent in front of the camera over editing as its him as a person which seems to get views, he can just pay others to edit for him and do the time consuming parts.

anyone who makes a few million from youtube and still makes videos afterwards is either greedy or just wants to fuel their own ego.

On the one hand that could be true. But maybe he's dedicated to keeping his fans happy. Maybe millions of fans simply want to see endless content from him and he doesn't want to let them down or upset them. It's his fans that made his success after all.
