If they want PC gamers to have the same experience as consoles, why not let us be one big happy family and play together? :p

if they allow that it will more than make up for the loss of dedicated servers

us pc gamers will have a lot of fun then :D

If its 16 player max thatll be the final nail in the coffin. thats ridiculous, why are we going backwards?

18 player limit more or less confirmed. Which is pretty crap but could still work (..if we had dedicated servers..). As to why they are going backwards? It has to have something to do with the IW.net, consoles and lack of dedicated servers. Saying the maps don't support more than that is just a convenient way of saying our technology doesn't support more than 18 players at this time. But that's what you get without dedicated servers.

The player limit you cannot really get annoyed about. That's not a console thing, it's just a joke with more players because the maps are designed for that many. They could easily increase that on pc, it just involves changing a single number, its like that for balance.

CoD 4 on the huge servers is such a joke, have you ever joined a 60 player server? I once got a 13 kill streak by holding down the trigger as I spawned into the server, and thats not even a joke.

I've longed for a Call of Duty with massive maps and 100s of players. I guess this is never going to happen what with the backwards moves.

You're all crazy...I've bought 2 copies: one for me and one for my brother as a birthday present. Mind you, we only want it for the single-player.

Oh, and since when was £35 for a computer game excessive?! I remember buying Street Fighter II Championship Edition on import for my Megadrive for £65 (in old money too!!) and then paying for six-button controllers—that was expensive!

Don't know if this has been posted already;

"If any other CEO exhibited as much contempt for his or her customers as Kotick has, their company would surely expect to face negative feedback or even a consumer boycott. But you just know that nothing like that will happen here. Apart from running the negligible risk of a few blogs printing pictures of him with devil horns or a Hitler moustache, Kotick knows that he’s invulnerable. The gaming “community” just doesn’t have the will or the organisation to, say, boycott Modern Warfare 2, and that – even more than Kotick’s comments – makes us truly sad."

LoL how ironic.

It's not ironic because that was blatantly sarcasm. :p

I don't think it was, it was way before any announcments that started the MW2 boycott. So it couldn't have been seen. Nobody would have guessed it wouldn't have dedicated servers and the response.

yes it is consoles, can't really support large maps with large numbers of players that's why they don't have them

It's really not a technical limitation of consoles but developer choice (and probably as a result of unwillingness of the developer to provide dedicated servers).

If consoles were unable to support large maps with large numbers of players you wouldn't have games like Resistance 2 (64 players) and M.A.G (256 players).

I think this might of been brought on by the piracy in COD4 more than anything. I remember a month after it released Infinity Ward said something like 70-80% of users weren't using a proper cd key as they had no form of protection.

So I'm guessing they are trying to add some form of protection... But gone a little too far :)

But that was their own retarded fault wasn't it?

I bought cod4, installed it on 4 pc's in my house (for the kids) and we could all play online from the one copy.
Cod:WAW, i bought one copy, installed it on all 4 pc's but only one person can go online at a time. and the cd is needed for SP mode.

Neither were anywhere incorporating failsafe protection system. Surely there are better protection systems out there.
They moan about piracy, but don't go to any great lengths to combat it. Sure there will always be someone who can beat their protection, but its up to them to sought it.

Apples & oranges. Can't compare the cost of PC and console games as they're licensed differently.

LOL, so your blatant piracy is their fault?

How does playing with people at the same skill level as yourself help you out? When I first started playing COD online I would regularly get my ass handed to me so it forced me to play better. The original COD got me into online gaming and into my very first clan where I had an awesome time right up to COD2. Now I'm kinda glad I don't have a gaming pc anymore otherwise I'd be royally chuffed off with the mp side of this.

I'll still end up buying the game for my dad though as he doesn't care about mp only the sp side of things.

I'll come back to this quote when MAG gets released. :)

Its taken them how long to get to this point?

Besides, doesn't MAG use some sort of progressive loading function so you don't load the whole map at one time, only the area you're in? I think everywhere you're not its rendered at such a low res that it has a neglible effect on FPS, whilst allowing you to view everything in your immediate area in detail.

Edit: I should also add that MAG is on the PS3, a system that Kotick himself has admitted hating.
