Don't pirate it!

All that does is give IW excuses, "Oh look at 5million pirated PC copies, we need to use IW.Net more to stop this kind of thing!"

they said that the matchmaking/lack of dedi servers was not because of piracy, only the steam stuff was.

they admitted themselves they don;'t know what effect no dedi's will have on piracy.

although my guess is it will make piracy much easier, no need to crack the game + server files, just crack the game and play on hamachi etc.

Apparently a leaked copy is already available, AND IT'S THE 360 VERSION! HAHAHA!!

If this was done to cut down on PC piracy, then I love that the first pirate copy available is on the 360!

umm 360 is usually pirated first, because they usually come out before PC and don't need to be cracked just copied...

People keep going on about funds, it takes no funds whatsoever to add dedicated servers, they could probably add them in literally 5 minutes.

Actually as they already have pretty much functioning server code from teh last game that would need only a few mods, this IW system must have cost hundreds/thousands of times the price of dedi servers.

which means they are going to recoup the costs some how...

Just had a thought. Now that the multiplayer will be running on P2P, how will that gel with BT's habit of throttling data transfer? I know torrents get hammered, but games are allowed to exploit whatever bandwidth you manage to squeeze out of them. Is the P2P planned for MW2 running on a similar enough basis to fall foul of BT's Orwellian fiddling?

Ive read a fair bit of this thread, im a big fan of cod4 mw (on pc, where it belongs), now a few mates of mine play it on xbox, id never tried it until tonight. Theyd always said to me, buy an xbox and play cod4 with us online, my argument was, xbox lacks player numbers, i like an online game with atleast 20 players, i got bored after 5 minutes on the xbox with cod 4, controls were crap, it didnt look any beter on my mates 1080p telly, it lagged like treacle tryng to run up a hill, the ruination of a franchise that pc gamers put in the public eye.

No it isn't
so ner ner :D

no more than saying that every person on the planet is a potential sale, which is ridiculous

The only thing that is ridiculous is your comment. His reasoning is that if it were not for piracy then the only way a person could play that game is to buy it. If they didnt want the game they would not pirate it, so if it were not for piracy then they would have to pay money for it. So its lost sales.

or they could buy it second hand ;)

And again you are assuming all pirates would buy they game if the could not pirate it, this is rarely the case.

Having bought every cod so far, I do feel I should just trust them not to ruin this and hopefully in time ( hopefully hours ) add a dedi option. One of the worst things is putting some of the dedi hosts out of business.

Also there is a working 360 version like the above said.

they've spent hundreds of thousands/millions on this system what makes you think they would abandon it so quickly?

Well if they dont im sure someone will be able to knock up a dedi patch from the community.

that would probbaly have to remove the cd key/account validation though, so be used by pirates and IW stating 6000% of players on-line are pirates :p

Youve got to remember one of the best aspects of COD 4 was multiplayer though which required you to buy it... Anyways thanks bloodline i thought i was going crazy when no one else saw my point :P

In leagues etc yes you needed to pay but there are cracked servers allowing even online play for free.

Not only that, lets hope they dont use the same port as Battlefield 1943, blocked by aol between 5 - 11pm.

no mp was cracked too, just like it will be cracked on this system.

If you're so annoyed with it, just don't buy it - simple.

If there's something about it that makes it worth pirating to yuu then don't bother crying about them not supporting dedi, because whatever they did put in the game was important enough to you to warrant pirating it.
