more like xbox360 is dying look at what is being torrented at least 15 choices to choose from, I have not got a xbox and will not own one, so its XBox gaming thats killing the PC topic now than ! :-)
Yeah, except for the fact that MW2 would never have had dedicated servers on the 360 anyway, so however much it's pirated on the 360 bears no relevance at all to what happens on the PC (although it'll be pirated a lot on there too, which it would've been anyway)

way to go steal more crap from modders then take away modding capabilities

the nuke is from a mod made for cod 4 mod x4

lol cod zombie mods make good then theres a zombie mode it does make you laugh. wonder how long before tghey start with a star wars mod in game :D

the star wars galatic mod drops anytime soon now for cod 4 gunna be a monster. keep a eye out for it ;)

Don't know if this has been mentioned yet, but my friend is baiting me as he already has a 'copy' for his 360 and has finished the game. I was going to buy this but there are plenty of games out for me to be playing and catching up on this winter, Ill pick it up for the pc when its under 20 notes or if they include dedi and mod tools, otherwise I dont care much

Had an argument with my 11 year old son yesterday.
He was saying that he read  that even without dedi servers on MW2 that if you host a game and lose connection the game freezes (naturally) informs you that its looking for a new host, counts down till it finds one then carries on the game.
Now this is pertaining to the xbox360, so consoles in general i guess and it came from an 11 year old.
But, could it be that the IW implementation is intelligent enough to do this? Surely though the round/map would start again at the very least.

Just thought it was quite interesting what he said. We shook on a £1 bet :p and he offered to show me the article he read when we got home, but it never happened.

Anyone else hear of something like this?

Yeah it does that in the 360 version. I think you see it in one of the vids where they first showed off the CTF mode.

...And game companies call us PC users pirates, blaming all their bad decisions on it...

Spot on, if the game is really that bad why do people even want to play it? Way i see it is people are just using this as a way to justify breaking the law. As i've said before, if you want to pirate it, fine, go for it, just don't come out with these simpering claims of deserving the game for free because they didn't give you the holy dedicated server.

I'm not sure that your argument is quite right here. What some people are saying is that the CoD series has always been fun online, however now that seems to have disappeared.
It doesn't seem that people want the game for free, but they were happy to pay for the the model that mostly worked. Now that model has changed, people are no longer happy to pay for it (with seemingly valid reasons).
As there will be a (probably short if history repeats itself) single player version available for free download (c.f. Xbox360 version) what is the incentive to buy the full-priced version of the game?

The irony of this backfire on IW is really quite a giggle. Not to mention on all the saddo console fanboys on these forums who tout us as the pirates of the net ruining online gaming.

Oh the irony... :)

I'm not up to date but surely the copied 360 versions won't be playable online? Doesn't MS ban consoles with the dodgy firmware required to play copied versions? Still, developers can't really claim piracy is a PC only issue.

Well despite my utter hatred of IW for what they've done to the PC version I still haven't binned my pre-order for this.

Whilst I'm tempted to ditch the pre-order and wait to see if they relent and add dedicated server support later, I've got i38 coming up. If I cancel the pre-order and then find everyone playing it on the LAN somehow or a zero-day patch from IW to add LAN/dedicated support then I'd be fairly peeved at having to rush out and buy it from a shop and pay more.

Think I'll keep the order but take it, still sealed to i38. That way I'll have it if I "need" it but otherwise I'll just return it after the weekend :)

No you can play online on the 360, you only get banned if you use "bad" copies of games. (as in, not stealth patched)

lan will prob be the only way to play this without the lag

That just adds more to fuel to the "Devs and publishers are stupid cretins fire" :)

Becoming a bit of an inferno tbh. Im getting slightly more anoyed about it. I had a go on COD4 for the first time there in months, it is a lot of fun. Small maps can be good, IF, you get a descent team together. It always was the way in games like these that if 4-5 of you tried to acheive the objective, you could cancle out the other 20 tards on your team running head first into the opposition.

I can see myself being stuck with either fools, or guys who are way to good for me, thus the game having a pretty short life span for me.

This idea of lumping us in with players at our level anoys me aswell. Getting your ass handed to you gives probably the best insentive to try harder next time, then that glorious time when you get the guy whos owned you all round.

DAMN YOU IW!

Edit:

Interesting post on the IW forums. It may be the case that IW has done us a favour. Dice have already said they will keep dedicated servers. If the comunity do as that petition suggests and universally shunds MW2, many of the other developers considering moves similar to this will think twice.

Flip side they could just cut off PC gamers all together........

Why are they making games crap?

Because the Casual market seems to bring in more profit than the "Hardcore" market.

they're not really listening though, if you're intelligent enough to install a pc game, then you're intelligent enough to use dedicated servers, find out about them.

I cant see their reasoning behind it.. really cant.
