No, they were probably going to buy it to play on proper servers, now that they've completely ruined the game there's no reason to buy it anymore.

Nail, meet head.

Some of the tweaks to the MP aspect of COD:WaW were a little controversial, and disliked by some, but it is still essentially the same model, dedi servers, console, etc - now they've hobbled the MP version of COD into a gimped n00bs forever system, they've lost any chance of proper gamers buying it.

Maybe they're hoping more *casual* gamers will pay top whack for it, realise it's rubbish and just blindly buy the next version based on how many awards it wins. (which incidentally I hope it wins none)

Either way, I forsee a very short lifespan to this game. I'd bet money on it.

Well fortunately (for them) they'll never have to prove they had any intention of buying it in the first place. As I said it's a convenient excuse.

Would be interested to see how many of the people here and elsewhere openly admitting to intending to pirate it actually had it on pre-order to begin with....

Well, i've never pre-ordered a game, so i didn't have it on pre-order, but i bought the first one for the MP, and if they'd kept the MP the same i would have bought this too. Now i'll probably just download it for SP, or not bother at all, either way i won't be giving any money to IW.

Well I'm not even going to bother wasting 16gb of my bandwith to pirate the game, after the latest crap that has come out I don't even want to play the single player, I've gone completley off it.

I just cancelled my preorder today.

I'm not going to download it as I don't want to become one of their statistics but I am going to borrow it from a friend after they're done with it so I can run through the SP.

The 360 version will still sell better though. :/

A local games retailer near me apparantly has 4000 copies being delivered for a midnight launch alone. This being one of the "smaller" high-street retailers.

And they'll make more money from all the kids with too much (of daddies) disposable money buying tat like the £100+ Prestige version and the third party MadCatz 'Official' MW2 controllers.

It's their money, it's their choice, so what? I agree the price of the Prestige edition is ridiculous, I'd hardly call it tat... (I wouldn't buy it though!)

It seems they might be trying to emulate "The Sims" in the way they have dumbed it down and will be releasing DLC. And we know how well they sell to losers.

I presume IW are well aware just how much this game is currently being pirated on the xbox 360?
What would make you think the 360 version being pirated has any bearing at all on how much the PC version will be pirated? You realise they're two seperate platforms right?

The PC version will get pirated hard anyway, and you're hardly making a stand by pirating it because unless you intend to send IW a letter with a photograph of your burned DVD or whatever they will be (largely) none the wiser. Way to stick it to them by doing something they will have no specific knowledge of and will already assume is going to happen anyway!

Added to which assuming for a moment they could track every single person who pirated it and somehow match it against how disgruntled that person was (i.e. they're "only pirating it because they are unhappy with multiplayer, but happy enough with the rest of it to go to the trouble of pirating it at all") all it would do is add more fuel to the "PC piracy killing gaming" statistics and give them more justification to alienate the PC crowd in favour of consoles. It's a self-defeating act.

If you're going to pirate it, pirate it - but don't pretend that by doing so you're somehow going to convince IW/Activision of anything other than the fact that piracy is as big a problem as they already think it is.

Only a few more days...im so excited......

In a few days all the kiddie morons who flocked back to BF2 after 1.5 and ruined it again with their TK'ing, radio spamming, nade spamming, etc,etc.etc. will have a shiny new toy called MW2....

They can all go annoy each other online and leave the rest of us to BF2....

Bliss.
