I normally use sidelights myself - they use so little power it's not worth worrying about fuel costs...
My rule
Sidelights/Dipped on in the early hours of the morning then when I drive home at dusk.
Headlights when I go out at night.
I have mine on all the time. Helps you stand out just a tiny bit more which could prevent an accident from even happening at all.
never use sidelights, waste of time imo,
Ok valid points, where is your data to back up your last comment please?
Thanks
Since I put these Osram Nightbreakers in I've had a few people flashing me when I've had my dipped headlights on.
Yet my headlights are properly aligned and legal.

I've got some night breakers on my focus too. I've had to turn the little dial thing that controls how high they point down a bit....
AFAIK that is only used when you have a heavy load in the boot. Therefore should be at 0 in normal situations![]()
go on as soon as it gets a bit dull/overcast, very rarely use sidelights, its either dipped or none, full beams dont go on till theres no street lighting and theres not a car in sight.

Probably because your headlamps reflector isn't good enough for such bright bulbs.
