Dipped head lights question

For those people who have their dipped headlights turned on during a clear day...
Why? It annoys me so much. Your dazzling other drivers on the road...
Probably just as annoying as when people drive with fog lights and sidelights turned on!

what a stupid post

how can you be dazzled by headlights during the day ? laws of biology and physics can clearly explain your talking total tosh.

or you've got a medical condition, or are exaggerating for the internet

i'd go with the latter...

Dad always has them on in the Westfield.

He goes by his biker days of assuming that your invisible to other drivers.

Likewise m8.

I guess its just "habit" for me but being a biker, I always run with dipped beam on the RSV and when I get in the car I switch them on too during the day.

All these people posting here who say they are dazzled in the DAY by headlights should be banned from night driving. Obviously they have a medical problem. :D

I get dazzled from some dipped headlights due to the pupils in my eyes dilating further across my corneas than they normally should. Its made a bit worse by having laser eye surgery almost 6 months ago.

Got used to it and adapted. If i see an oncoming car with bright lights i simply reduce my speed.

My pet hate is people driving around wit front dog lights on at might in clear weather

Does it feel like a burning sensation in your eyes? I get it off the back of brake lights at junctions on some of the newer cars.

I beginning to feel like an old man the number of times other drivers lights have annoyed me;

- Front fogs on, with sidelights at night - WHY? Just put your bloody headlights on.
- About 10% of cars only seem to have one dipped bulb working at the front.
- Some have one bulb misaligned to near fullbeam stylee angle.
- All Chesea Tractors with their 8foot high HIDs butning out my retinas.
- People sitting in a queue of traffic on the foot brake blinding me with their high level LED.

ARGH!!

Nothing like that at all. My problem is starbursts around light sources. It was present before I had laser surgery and has got slightly worse after. Bit strange at first but now I'm used to it and adjusted my driving accordingly.

So lights that don't dazzel you at night when every other car has them on, suddenly burn your retinas when seen in daylight? Don't be daft, the output from dipped bulbs pales in comparison to the light level of natural daylight.

After god knows how many years of using 60Hz CRT's my eyes are pretty bad. I do feel them getting irritated by certain lights at night but never at day time. Hell I even let duffers with their front fogs on go past without so much as a flash when it's daylight. At night though I get the "halo" effect quite bad, made worse if my windscreen isn't all that clean. It's just an irritant and it's always at the back of my mind because I'm 100% focused on the driving. Now when some big Land Rover comes round the corner with its HID's on full blast - *that* hurts... you can just feel your pupils tightening so quickly to protect the eye.

I get the brake lights thing as well. So I just look away until it starts moving.

Putting up with it is better than complaining on Internet forums about how people shouldn't hold their foot on the brake or use dipped lights in the daytime. Because believe it or not both of these are done for safety and are taught on any advanced driving course

I wish people around hear new that ,99% go straight to headlights 30 mins before dusk and blind each other ,they are so STUPID

If you are blinded by 55 watt headlamps in the day then you have a serious vision problem! And as for brakelights, a pure 21 watts of blinding power. Get those shades on lads

Headlights generally point at the ground, rear window brake lights are near enough straight in your face on some cars, and when you are only a few meters behind someone at traffic lights, the only thing you can see is the massive red light.
