DirectX 10.1 to be in Vista SP1, needs new gpu!!!

i think this dx10.1 coming out so soon is a gd thing coz it means the 2900 and 8800 will drop more in price so that i can get one

i think it'll be out early next year...

anyway i won't be upgrade my graphic cards shuddery just to get dx10.1. its stupid... once dx10.1 as been released, dx11 will be released 7-8 months after.. its all money mad.. theres gonna be a time to say "stop no more" because its getting out of control...

I think you know I'm no fool when it comes to GFX card upgrading.

But thanks for the insult anyway

What date is the new Gen released?

He could buy a GTX now or GTS and get some nice gaming in.

Then sell a few weeks before the new gen release.

Exactly what I have been doing for years

He could even get the EVGA and stepup.

Stating not buying a 8800 GTX now cause the new stuff is soon out is like saying dont buy C2D cause penryn will soon be out.

I for one would have thought that you of all people would know about the pointlessness of waiting.

And stating getting a x1950pro is just naff

Hmm I'd just hate to spend mega bux on a high end card when the new ones are close (Novemeber apparantly) just think how much the card will de value you won't get the maximum value out it, even if you sold a bit before release you'd still loose a fair bit. I'd get the X1950 as a little stop gap, I mean let's face it theres absoloutly cack all out atm thats even worth playing anyway so the 1950 would tie my along nicely.

Tom, how long did people hang back waiting for R600, lots of gameing time lost waiting for a card that didnt perform as we all thought (hoped) it would.

Hence why I said the GTS at 200 is still a great buy and will hold its value in a few months.

I know that :o , but you replied to someone who was after a GTX saying "buy for now" and Im saying it's pointless buying a GTX "for now" IMO*

and Im going to make it really clear why I think this

A. The GTX will loose more value

B. Naff all games out Id rather buy a cheap card and pocket the cash I saved and put it towards that next gen model

This is all just my opinion.

Hell if I was in the market for a new rig I'd pick up a cheapy X1800 or X1900 to tide me over till the next gen then flog it on the bay, theres always some idiot that pay over the odds on the bay :p

If you are new to these forums then dont judge us all by the standard that Tom and Easy set, they do this a lot.
Its an old story, we all waited with baited breath for the NV FX series and what a pile of poo they turned out to be, same with the R600 in that it didnt live up to the hype.
There is no guarentee that the next Gen cards will be much better than the current kit.

Yep thats an option I guess we all work differently, personally the likes of Easy, Me and others that switch there cards on here a lot we have to think differently and we don't always think the same when it comes to upgrading :)

Looking at it again, if i was just about to buy and wasnt up to speed on all things gfx i would maybe wait, then again its all about balance and pairing GFX and CPU so as to limit bottle necking.
Tom, you have a 2900, will you upgrade sept/oct or wait for a true gfx upgrade rather than a refresh?
