What gfx card will feature the new DirectX, as I was looking to get Windows Vista. I'm thinking 7900?

Zephyrus said:Have Microsoft stated that DX10 will be vista only?
Otaku Punk said:Why would that be? There wasn't a mass liquidation of the games market when DX9 came about, or DX8, so why would there when 10 comes along? Every generation of Direct X brings about new hardware and more graphically advanced games, and unless your hardware meets the requirements it wont run or wont run well. Thats the way it always has worked in PC gaming, and i've yet to see a load of companies going bust due to advances in gaming technologies all at once.
Anyway, most of these standards have been set in place years ago. The showreel for the unreal 3 engine was shown at E3 3 years ago now and is only now being released. By that time scale if your theory was true the companies should have gone bust 2-3 years ago.

How can a brand new card, faster than anything previously made, suck at an old tech?
King_Boru said:Maybe in your little world but not everyones. Nvidia were saying everyone needed SM3.0 when the 6xxx series were launched but in the real world next to nothing actually used it. Heck, even now not every game uses it.
So, not so really 'simple as' is it.
