What doesnt make sense is that if someone is as injured as that cant get benefits how messed up must the 1 in 10 people that can get them be? Surely they must all be in a worse condition but that's not something I recognise from the average high street..

So you talk to all these people on the street and you know what benefits they claim and what they don't?

Sounds like a very reasonable way to make your case on this issue. You have no idea what you're talking about, that's the only thing you've made clear in about 15 posts.

Because the 1 in 10 (6.3million) figure is just the number of people who receive some type of disability related support payment, not the number of people who are so disabled they're completely unable to work.

we are talking about 1 in 10 people lol - what % of people have non visible disabilities that mean they cant work?
You do realise you can get disability benefits AND work right?

Employment and Support Allowance has two tiers.

Work Related Activity Group who helps you get ready to get back into work and are expected to get back into work in the near future.
Support Group who have no obligations to get a job.

You can also work and get Personal Indepedence Payment.

Because someone who is 'half crippled' is probably not just asking for a tiny weekly PIP payment.

It would really be a good idea to at least vaguely educate yourself on these sorts of topics before wading in with your misinformed assumptions.

So how many of the 1 in 10 get a 'tiny weekly PIP payment'?

I'm being told that 1 in 10 can get benefits but someone 'half crippled' cant - it doesnt make sense.

No, you claim that anyone can get benefits, but when presented with data and evidence that they can't, it all falls apart.

You've deconstructed your own argument. It doesn't make sense to you because you started this whole thing with misinformation.

One in ten sounds like a wind up figure to get the public angry. You will probably find that it includes people who are working but thanks to some reason or other are in a poorly paid job or they require special help with transport or something.
Its a bit like our defence budget. Sounds great until you discover that the 2.1% also includes military pensions and medical services. Its political statistics, as I call it.
