No-one in this thread would disagree! Child abuse and any crime that perpetuates it is almost universally abhorred. But this thread is about whether or not the guy should get to keep his job after he has been punished for his crimes.
He's not working with children, he'll never be let near them again. If he's competetent and he's paid for his crimes why shouldn't society get some value out of him, and yes, why shouldn't he get a chance at earning a living?
Whether one thinks the justice system is hard enough on these criminals is a different matter, really.

Don't get me wrong, ****ing off to kids is not right. I'm just agreeing with the fact that the current way of dealing with the problem is the wrong way

Ive heard the military prison is a horrible horrible place, id put money on him not taking anymore photos after he came out, simply because his broken fingers wouldnt be able to!
Being a pedo in a normal prison would be bad enough!

He hasn't made any pics, they just twisted the law to make it so that viewing images online counts as creating them.
I mean if someone in a different working enviroment got caught looking at child porn,they would lose their job almost instantly,But because hes an air traffic controller they think its ok to let him keep his job.Not a good decision.
Why would they.. he's not working with children. he's paid his punishment to society(although his punished was way to low). he should be allowed to work.. This thread is unbelievable.
That could mean that he watched some manga of the type known as hentai in the west (which, apparently, has a different meaning in Japan itself).
I am serious. Read the whole of the linked article, bearing in mind these points concerning the law:
i) Seeing an indecent image on your computer means you are legally guilty of making it, on the basis that a copy of it has been made on your computer (in a cache, in the swapfile, maybe even in main memory since the law doesn't state how long the image must be on your computer for).
ii) The images do not have to be real, or even realistic.
iii) The images do not have to be of children, real or fake, in order to qualify as child porn.
iv) The article mentions that "a number" of the images were cartoons. That might well be all of them.
Manga could easily account for his conviction.
