Dishonored 2

Really undynamic, you'd have to be directly behind them and stealth had no flow. I understand that from games like Thief but isn't the protagonist of Dishonored meant to be a bad ass? Kind of funny that he's nowhere near as lethal as Sam Fisher or that douché you play as in FC3.

Imo, it is the most dynamic stealth and movement I have ever experienced in a game. Without doubt the best stealth mechanics I have ever seen!

I really loved Dishonored, so this will be my most anticipated game easily:) Imo it is one of the best games ever made.

A great game, this is great news. As long as it has a Blink!

I can't imagine it not having blink. It was pretty much the core mechanic of the first game, and the thing that made it so much fun. The other powers were just icing on the cake.

The thing I'm actually hoping for is that it's not about Corvo or Daud. Preferably not even set in Dunwall, but some other city.

My personal hope-

-You play as Corvo, Emily is Empress.
-Your save is imported
-The game starts with a small scene in Dunwall with Emily acting as your game epilogue would suggest
-She sends you off to another one of the cities in the game
-The whole city is open to you

Too much to ask?:p

My one wish for the game is to have a darker atmosphere more like Thief, not sure if its possible with the graphic art the game uses though.

Yeah that would be too much to ask because that would be pretty much the worst thing I can think of. Corvo's story had a satisfying finish - he bested his enemies and rescued the damsel in distress, and the epilogue was pretty much a "happily ever after" thing if you had low chaos, and a "grimly ever after" if high.

When you take a story that has been completed and try to continue you it, that almost always results in awfulness. Sequels are best when the original was written with the sequel in mind, and I didn't get that impression with Dishonored. Better to start afresh with new characters in a new city.

I disagree. I saw the ending(which was perfectly pitched btw imo) as a good springboard for sequels, which on one hand was a satisfying conclusion to the current story, and the other, a clean-slate which would allow for pretty much any story in the future.

Characters are very important to me in games, and I think that re-introducing a completely different cast for every game will never be as deep as keeping a stable cast through a series to get 'attached' to.

That is my personal preference anyway

it's a totally new game, it isn't in the same city, but it might be the same period of time; i'm not sure, but from what i read it isn't in Dunwall.

it would be virtually impossible to go undetected if a guard is looking in your direction, or even off to one side, he'd see you instantly, both games are bad for this, but FC3 is the worst, because those guys are BLIND.

No it won't be. From the Dishonored Wiki

Tyvia is the northernmost island in the Empire of the Isles. Its terrain is harsh, and its climate is persistently cold. The cities of Tyvia include: Alexin, Caltan, Dabokva, Meya, Samara, Tamarak, and Yaro.

Culture

Tyvian culture is one that mixes survivalism and refinement. While Tyvia is cold and boasts a hostile ecosystem, its residents are known to be skilled in the culinary arts. In particular, Tyvian food--such as whale meats and fine wines--are exported all over the Empire, and are enjoyed by both commoners and nobles alike. Tyvian art--from architecture to fashion--has been described as "ornate and complex."[1]

The Isle of Tyvia suggests that the nation maintains a somewhat isolationist standing, claiming that "Tyvians are proud of their customs, food and history, and have little concern for the Isles to the south." However, the book also notes regular trade between the city of Caltan and the nation of Morley, which stand in close proximity.

It is also mentioned through the game, don't read if you haven't completed the game:

- Tyvia produces a fine red wine that can be found during various missions; for instance, Thaddeus Campbell attempts to assassinate Geoff Curnow with a poisoned glass of "Tyvian red."
- Tyvian poison was used to poison Corvo Attano.
- A particular type of bone charm is made in Tyvia, created from walrus tusks.
- There is a painting found in several locations throughout Dishonored of a whaling ship anchored on a large ice shelf. It is christened, "Tyvia."
- Anton Sokolov hails from Tyvia; the Heart alludes to his nationality when it states that he has the "manner of a Tyvian Swineherd," and guards express distrust for Sokolov due to him being a "foreigner."

Well, this is a bit embarrassing—in an apparent rehearsal for its Sunday E3 press conference, Bethesda accidentally broadcast a few minutes of conversation between Arkane Studios’ Raph Colantonio and members of Bethesda live on Twitch. The conversation also mentioned Harvey Smith, who co-directed 2012's Dishonored with Colantonio. Those who caught the Twitch broadcast live claimed that Dishonored 2 was mentioned during the brief unplanned livestream.

A snippet of the conversation uploaded to Youtube here (backup on Kotaku, if that link goes down) does indeed include Colatonio and Smith rehearsing for tomorrow’s press conference, but best as we can tell, Dishonored 2 is never explicitly mentioned. The word “honored” is mentioned about 45 seconds into the clip, but in the context of “honored to be here” rather than “Dishonored 2.”

It’s possible Dishonored 2 was mentioned elsewhere in the accidental broadcast, but we can’t say definitively that they were discussing Dishonored 2 based on the clip. Still, we can safely say that Arkane Studios’ Smith and Colantonio will be at Bethesda’s conference talking about a new game. That game being a sequel to the successful Dishonored seems like a smart bet.

I can't wait for any info whatsoever on this. Easily the game I am looking forward to the most. Best and most fluid stealth gameplay ever.

I'd love a more open city.

This thread makes me want to start playing the first again, never finished it as I got too engrossed trying to nab all the collectables! Slight OCD...

Can play as original character or a new character in a whole new environment.
