Display driver not responding - OCUK 6870

Hi Guys

I managed to get about 3 days out of my VTX 6870 before it dropped one of the DVI ports :/ I can still get it to work sometimes when using a VGA dongle on the port. Just wondering what to do as the card doesn't post on one screen. Tried the card in 3 computers, different monitors, leads etc... nada :(

I called up for an RMA this morning and the call took all of 3 minutes, most of which I was surprised / delighted at how easy it was to get a return authorised :)

I'll be posting back with my news, but I feel confident enough with how things were handled today to order a Sapphire 6870 in it's place (I needed it for this weekend)

Go OCUK :)

wish i found this thread before i ordered this card..

just got one of these for the wifes' new pc (krypton overclocked bundle from ocuk).

games crash, crashes during a 3dmark vantage performance test, screen freezes etc..

ive emailed for RMA or DSR, so we'll see what happens!

Returned mine

Bought it when the offer was up, honestly never going to buy another VTX product ever now. Sounds like they must have had an incredibly high failure rate on this one and pushed them out of the door anyway

was a little concerned when the email (probably a standard template i realise) said they would charge me a restocking fee if they didnt find an problem so i called up and clarified that even if they dont find an issue im entitled to a full refund under DSR (i notified them within 7 working days so its all good), possibly seems a bit gittish of me but im not taking any chances and i really wouldnt be sending it back if it did what it said on the tin and actually worked without crashing

I couldnt find anything consistent about the way it was crashing, sometimes it'd go just watching a video on youtube while other times id play deus ex for 3hrs without a single crash, now back on my old 4850 using the same drivers and the PC has been running for 4-5 days now since i reinstalled the old card

I still haven't used mine yet as im still building my new PC, would it be ok to return after like a month or two?? if it cant play the games or faulty??

You would be able to return it if faulty with 12 months of purchase (unless warranty is longer). Though they would likely want to repair / replace it, rather than re-fund your money.

Any1 know which one is better I see that it has better cooling. thx

Though I'm not sure what the position would be if he tried to return it after a couple of months. I expect that they would want to repair/replace, rather than refund. Though I've luckily never been in this position myself.

Only ever had to return two graphics cards to OCuk. One was DOA and replaced like-for-like (though they did offer a refund if I wanted). The 2nd was sent back under DSR and I got a refund this time. Should maybe comment that these two incidents were separated by a number of years (IE. I'm not in the habit of sending things back unnecessarily).
