Bought a GTX460. Had some strange horizontal lines in games and furmark.

RMA.

New card. same problem. God damn ridiculous.

Ive called ocuk and im supposed to send it for RMA again. Im not sure if its the card, the problem is exactly the same. although with onboard I get no lines at all in any game.

4GB Ram
Coolermaster GX550W
Phenom II X2 555 BE

I really dont want to send it off and wait again, its so frustrating. there has to be something i can do, ffs...

two cards + same problem = not the cards are fault (unless your the unluckiest guy on earth)

Don't know if OcUK does it but ask them to test the card before they send it to you? If it still does the same when you put it in your PC then problem is somewhere else.

Southern scotland, use a DVI connector supplied with the card to connect with monitor.

Ok, if its not the card, what is it then ? where could the issue be ? im devastated..

Ok well, its highly unlikely that you will have gotten 2 faulty cards so we can probably fix this. Next, what kind of monitor do you use? Can you use a different connection and run furmark again?

EDIT - I don't see what location has to do with anything stulid?

maybe someone would be kind enough to take his bits and test them in their machine.

instead of him sending random parts of at £10 a time only for them to be returned as tested then him getting billed for the return postage.

can see that the IQ levels on these forums are dropping.

Well if OCUK confirm the first card was faulty, maybe you're just unlucky. Or maybe you static zap them - you didn't install it after putting on a nylon shellsuit and shuffling about on a nylon carpet, then rubbing some balloons until they stick to the wall for good measure, or anything like that? :)

Could stick it in mine (er, GPU in mobo, that is) if you happen to live down the road. EDIT - you dont though. Never mind.

Unnecessary.

OP any luck?

No luck, just tried another monitor cable, still nothing.
Dont tell me i have to spend goddamn postage fee again to send it.

im on the verge of depression...

(Other monitor does seem to get rid of this but it doesnt when closely looking. also lowering resolution on current monitor makes it harder to see but its still there visible.)

are you able to give a bit more detail on what you mean by "strange horizontal lines"
or maybe take a photo of them.

just wondering if it is a fixed colour for instance, or more a wavy display wobbling sort of line.

might help to determine if it is something wrong with the card or monitor or possibly just interference from something nearby.

assuming it is a LCD screen?
