So I'm just putting together my new server build and haven't got round to either buying or making a case yet. Because I'm so impatient I wanted to get it up and running right away so I decided I needed a CIY caddy to hold my new disk so they didnt get damaged or get too hot.
Now here was the problem. I didn't have any materials at hand and the rain is stopping me going to B&Q to pick some up, so that only left me with one option.
Yup the only material I had lying around was Lego. So I pieced together the above caddy to atleast mean I can get the server ready and built.
Oh and the little men are there to guard it from the cat.
The specs of the server are as follows:
Asus P5LD2VM-DH/C
Intel Core 2 Duo E2140 1.60GHz
Crucial 1GB (2x512MB) DDR2 PC2-4200C4
Zalman CNPS8000 Ultra Quiet Low Profile CPU Cooler
4 x 500 Gb Samsung HD501LJ Spinpoint
All of this is going be setup in a Raid-5 array (well it already is thanks to the fantastic HDD caddy ) running windows server 2003 R2. Its going to be my main file server and backup server and will be storing all my music and dvds eventually.
