Thing is, it is easier to sell with applecare rather than warranty.

Most people know about 3yr applecare but not the 3yr warranty etc. So it's easier to sell with 2yrs applecare left than 2yrs warranty etc.

well either that or the additional applecare makes the sale a bit quicker for the seller. Applecare on apple laptops is never a bad thing.
