Do I need an SSD...

I'm convinced, but will have to wait until funds allow after this moths buying spree...

What's the moth been spending money on, lightbulbs ? ;)

But seriously, you won't regret the purchase of an SSD (I think we may have already mentioned that).

Promise you won't regret it, otherwise a few of us are gonna meed pepto bismol :p

Or maybe a few days in hospital (if my own fridge is anything to go by).

I was running a Q9450 and when i popped in an SSD, the speed boost was incredible. It was running on SATA II as well.
You HAVE to get an SSD!

Might be the Best upgrade anyone had, but NOT one of you ever mentions how fast the ssd drive fills up because of Microsofts Updates..Anything less than 250GB is Useless in my experience over last few months. Within one month MicroCrap has given me 20GB of Stupid Updates. Please don't tell me this does not happen to any of you. Critickal & Important are the only ones I install for Micro..I use a Samsung 128GB ssd as I thought that would be ALL I ever will need..Well it would be if it was not for MicroCraps Updates.
38GB Left on the darn ssd. Too Pricy to buy bigger..I can buy 3TB HDD for less. YES, it will be slower in start up etc. But I find not much difference between my two PC's, except start up is quicker with ssd, but after that NO difference whatsoever.
So if 10 to 12 second startup is what you want, go buy one. If 24 second start up is No Big deal, then stick to a HDD...JMHO

Are you just going to post this in every SSD thread?

Good to see you ignored all the suggestions that were made in thread about using a 120gb ssd as the os drive only. The fault with having your ssd so full is your own responsibility not that of the drive.

Whole heartedly disagree. I had a 120GB SSD in the past and it was completely fine. Always had free space. So, i will tell you, this "20GB of stupid updates" doesnt happen to me. I had BF3 (40GB) and other games on the SSD including adobe software and i had free space.

+ OP, dont listen to this guy. SSDs do more than just quicken the boot up time, and also., people have to wait minute(s) for bootup and the system to become responsive. SSDs will bootup insanely fast and also be responsive from when you can move the cursor.
Programs, in fact, windows feels much quicker when opening and searching for things.

^ Listen to this guy.

As pointed out "20GB of stupid updates" is misleading. Yes, there are a lot of updates for Windows XP, Vista & 7 (and for all I know, 8 too). They can be a pain, especially when carrying out a clean install, but they don't take up a massive amount of drive capacity (not 20gb, anyway).

I`ve installed and "looked after" a 64gb in a Sony Vaio all in one PC (which has sadly just died - graphics chip failure). I installed Windows 7 on it when the SSD was fitted. It's been used for nearly 3 years and even with just 64gb, capacity was never an issue. OK, the owner didn't store loads of photos or music on it, but it did have Office, iTunes etc installed.

Just bought an SSD last night after reading this thread. :p

What would you consider you get the most benefit from putting on it? I'm thinking: Windows, AVG, Browser, Games, Adobe suite.. that's it really. Anything else you think I should put on it?

Exactly what id do. Main programs you use and AVG will benefit since itll startup quicker, giving you the faster responsiveness (well in my theory).
