Cause none of the other makers really banked the lot on WP7, Nokia did and have made a huge deal out of it with their own advertising etc.
We really aint going to know how it goes for them till after WP8, WIN8 and their tablets all come out under the same banner.

How many wp7 phones compared to android? Pretty much none. How many is there I cab think off 6 handsets off the top of my head. Android on the other hand I can think of several times that and I know there's 10s x more than that available.

It is new, what was androids Market share at sane point?

Why do sakes assistants push android? They probably own stand know the system.

Fanboyism? I use what suits me, on paper w8 is far supior and if you think MS are going to roll over your mistaken. As that would destroy there chance at The tablet market. Which is taking over from desktops/laptops.
 
33% not a chance seeing as symbian and non smartphones would have had most of the share in 2009.

Actually you're right it was beta in 2007, official release was end of 2008.

In the short term I think android will be the Defacto and replace symbian probably start levelling out soon, iOS is well iOS always been around 18% and w8 will slowly replace rim which historically been about 20% but falling rapidly.

Not happy at all with WP7, missing features and fragmentation between vendors.

I'm glad it's my dad's phone and not mine.

Carriers appear to be able to remove features such as caller ID announce, a pretty basic feature that even Symbian phones had.

Yes it might be insignificant to some people, but my dad bought it due to the WP7 spec saying it was included.

Also they've lowered the minimum requirement for phones to run WP7 now by halving the required RAM, which is just going to complicate things for new users.

Android suffers really badly with fragmentation and WP7 had the opportunity to avoid it.
 
Which phone does he have? Not that you should have to do this but it's pretty easy to debrand a Nokia Lumia 710.

WP is key to MS keeping their position in the market. In 10 years time integration will be key. Phone, tablet, laptop, PC, TV, fridge freezer etc. MS NEED a presence in the handheld market and WP is the beginnings of this.

Yes they are late to the party but they are doing a good job and have one of the best phone makers in the market 100% behind them.

Nokia have huge resources and still sell more phones than any other company. A few bad years does not wipe out 15 good ones and they have plenty of time and money to make this work.

I honestly believe over the next couple of years they will become a big presence in the market. Nokia have only had devices out for a few months and they have many more to come. Attempting to judge if Nokia / MS are going to succeed at this point is naive at best imo.

This may be one of the reasons. This article is for the US 6 months ago but there have been numerous articles with a european theme as well.

A large proportion of people go in to shops to buy phones, if they are being persuaded against WP it's a little difficult to get that market share.

Do you have a sister? If so go and ask her what OS her smartphone uses (or parents if you haven't discussed it with them). The vast majority of people probably couldn't answer that question with Android, much like Symbian before.

Actually I think WP has only just reached 28 markets very recently. Basically it's europe and the US with India very recently added.

EDIT: I lie, 54 markets very recently, with 23 languages.

I (and a lot of others it seems) didn't even realise that was available, it's certainly not available on my T-Mobile Omnia 7 and wasn't available on a sim free version of your phone.
 
You sure you're going to right place for caller ID?

Instructions:

Go to your Mango phone’s Settings menu (System settings, not Application).
Navigate to the option “Ease of access”. Surprisingly our desired setting is located here instead of the Speech menu just below it. Enter Ease of Access.
You will see the toggle button for turning on talking CLI, which will be Off by default. Flip it on, and from now on your phone will speak out loud the name of the caller on every incoming call.

No ease of access option at all in my settings... Above Speech on mine is "Region and Languages". :p

Maybe it's a US only thing, but I can't see why that would be. :confused:

Very odd and rubbish. There's a registry fix. No idea how you edit the registry on the phone. Seems easy enough.
