Do Nvidia & ATI need sep forum?

DFI made good boards back then never mind the chipset - lanparty boards ruled... shame they are nothing special any more.

Amen to that, I loved my DFI Lanparty NF2-Ultra400.

Overclocked fantastically well, and had Soundstorm. :D

Fanboyism is highly subjective to some people.

I get called a fanboy for hating on nVidia, for me to hate on nVidia doesn't = love of ATi.

Fanboys hate on a brand for makebelieve reasons, I've lost count of the 'problems' people have invented about ATi cards.

It's not about defending ATi, it's about defending the truth to me.

Some people get told to buy an nVidia card when an ATi alternative will be just as fast but cost about 15-20% cheaper.

This I see as common sense, my wallet contents it more important than what company I align my self to.

As for hating on nVidia, I think they make great hardware, but I don't agree with the blatantly wrong things that they do.

This, I'm entirely entitled to be deeply disappointed in how nVidia operate.

It's not good, anti-competitive, completely un-innovative and downright dirty.

The only people who label me a fanboy for these reasons must surely be the fanboys as I don't know how anyone wouldn't be angry at the things they do.

I agree with all you points.

The past year I have grown a great dislike for nVidia as a company due to there marketing schemes.

OMG ATI DRIVERS SUCK! " NO YOU SUCK YOU CANT INSTALL A DRIVER:mad: "

The ammount of posts I see with " I want a nVidia card " I always ask why & all i ever get is ohh OMG ATI DRIVERS SUCK or my card broke :(

And before the nVidia fanbois aka OMG ATI DRIVERS SUCK club show up I buy the products I feel offer me the best bang for buck.

My current cards :

2x280
4850
8800gt flashed for CAD

My previous cards :

9800x2
7800gtx
6800gs agp
9800 pro :p
mx440!!! :D

soundstorm was great it was sad when they stop it,dfi (not really sure now)were mixed bag a lot of the time if you got a good board it would be the best in the world but a lot of people did have problems over the years

Agree Que i had two lanparty boards one was solid as a rock and great in every way the other was like the girlfriend you cannot get rid of nothing would work right nothing i did was right. I think all of us agree that nvidia make some good hardware but the way the company operates has put off a lot of people and i include myself in that and it is a valid reason whether the nvidia fanclub like it or not. Sadly i just don't see nvidia learning from the past i think the g300 will probably be very good but the pricing will hamper it again.

I still think seperate forums would be better and more likely to cut down the idiocy a little and as for what do the people who don't know what brand to get do they go in both read up what people say on the cards they are thinking of and then do what all smart people do they go read the reviews and other forums. I have never made a buying decision purely on OcUK forums and never will.

soundstorm was half baked, a decent digital solution partnered with awful analogue outputs. and what's worse most of the people who still sing the praises of soundstorm mostly used its analogue outputs lol.

It was the digital outs that did it for me...

I think a forum for each, Nvidia & ATI would be best, not just to cut of the crap,it would make searching for the product you own or intend to buy easyer without the crap.

On the face of it, an Nvidia/ATI forum segregation makes sense, promotes expert info on the products from the relevant company and separates the fanboys - giving everyone an easier/less annoying life.

However, I just approached the question from a different angle. If I was a computer user who was not fully clued-up on modern GPU tech and simply want to ask the question "I have £X and I want to do Y with it, what should I get?" I would be very confused by a segregation. I suggest this because I see many such users come along, and as It stands they almost always get a wide range of balanced suggestions from OCUK members.

IMHO the best option is to keep the graphics card forum as it is and create a new "Fanboys" section, where the trolls can make up stats and insult each others mothers.

Can't say it annoys me in the slightest at all and i use both cards, i just skip to the next post and ignore the bs... it's not a big deal to me at all.

Gets me that to, its funny as both have problems, just looking at the big Nvidia 190 driver thread will tell you that, everyones slating them to death and dropping back to 185/6's or something.

Whats also funny is, most of those should get rid of their Nvidia cards and not have any in there, so shouldn't have a PC really seen as they can't use any gfx cards, as those only went Nvidia because they had a problem with ATi drivers, now they getting probs with the Nvidia ones, so they are going to have to get shot of those cards as well now. :D

It's a somewhat silly idea. Fair enough there's DICKS that are blinded into convoluted and pathetic thought processes, however if there WERE to be a split, there should be an ATi and nVidia subforum, just for the info on each company. People interested would go to the subforum they want, whilst people ask for advice on the main forum, and g-card help in their specific suboforum.

But I don't see neither happening because a split is likely little worth the effort and people could alternatively just GROW UP a little.
