Do people get 3GHz from their E6600s?

Hi Guys.

Got my 6600 running at 3000 with 1.35vcore as it was not booting into windows otherwise. I'm pretty sure it would go faster if I knew what I was doing !!!!

So I cant find it but I'm sure somebody posted a list of there settings for the P5W DH and an e6600. Can somebody link me to it?

Also How should I set this board up in the bios? I gather I need to set the memory timings separate from the cpu etc but how do I do that?

I'm aiming for as near to 3.6 stable as I can with an Artic 7.

Currently Orthos is giving max load temps of 51 according to TAT.

Thanks

Thanks, I intend to appy more power shortly :D

I just need to know how to separate the memory timings from the CPU.

That question can be interpretted in different ways, I take it you mean can the entry level chips overclock to a level which is faster than the 6700 at stock? if so the answer is yes they can!

Yep thats what i meant, but not sure which CPU is better bang for buck so to speak, im leaning towards 6400 but if 6600 can o/c higher, and safer, maybe i should get that, too many choices!! Just want it faster than a 6700, saves me getting one haha

well my 6600 is running at 3.4Ghz on stock volts, I'm very happy with this chip indeed:)

What MB you usinf for that then?

Mine now running at 3.1Ghz 1.384v according to CPU-z.

Need to find out how to separtate the memory timings from the cpu on the P5W DH board and then maybe I can get more. Also I probably need to up the voltage to the Ram. I have 2 Gb of Crucial 6400C4D Domiator ram.

It was posting at 3.6 then it would hang so I think its memory timings and voltage along with decoupling the ram from the CPU and giving the CPU more volts. Whats the max 'safe' voltage?

I'm using an asus p5n32-e sli

OK guys.....here's my lowest vcore for 3.0Ghz.....1.168v !!
18hrs 16mins Orthos stable :D

Just put my L630B E6600 in the rig......Tried same 3.0Ghz, as my L632A, at lowest vcore and ended up at 1.144v so far :)

69 hours + Orthos !!

That's very impressive. I want your chip.

omg how are you getting temps like that :( 3.2ghz here @ 1.312 (cpuz)

and im getting 57 idle. amazing how different chips can be

Lap your cpu and heatsink :p Thats the next step for me. Getting 61 degrees under load with the set up in the sig.

Mine can hit 65-69 in orthos with 1.5 through it...i used to be able to get it to boot at 3.9 but that never happens now wonder what that's about and the weather is getting warmer.. i've bought the wet and dry paper so i might get around to lapping although i really really cant be bothered at all.

Wish i could get it stable at 3.6 but even i 1.6 it fails orthos almost right away..q6600 on the way anyway so i will see how i get on with that and post results.

Haha I know the feeling but what you are not seeing is how the PC is actually set up, does that person live in Iceland etc. Just looking at a screenshot of CPU-z, TAT tec alone doesn't really give you the whole picture lol :)

The pc is watercooled using a swiftech kit....The reason it is so low on temp is that i am only putting 1.144v into it.

p.s. Not located in Iceland and the setup is in a Gigabyte Aurora case.

Getting an E6600 in the next few weeks. Is there anywhere to get OEM versions to save a bit of cash and also whats the best cooler to get. At the moment ive got *Link removed - Do not link to competitor websites*
but seems a bit cheap
or the Tuniq in mind
Going to overclock and hope for a stable 3.4 but would like more if i know i have the best air cooler. Thanks.
btw getting the Gigabyte DS3P for it.
