Do we have a Black Friday 2018 Deals thread

Any headphones experts?

Sony WH-1000xm2 @ £245 vs Sony WH-1000xm3 @ £330 vs Bose QC35 @ £280.

The cheaper Sony and the Bose are on black friday 'deals', the XM3's are the best headphones. Where would OCUK put its money?

I'm sure they're both fantastic, I've personally listened to my friends Sony's and they were great; noise cancelling was like wearing ear protectors.

I’ve said this several times but the Bose are by far away the comfiest and ‘least hot’ option, which swayed them for me and me larger than average ears.

Sound wise, much of a muchness. The Sony option has a really cool ‘turn off feature’ by putting your hand to one of the ear cups, which is pretty sweet (think “ordering a coffee” etc).

SONY is good stuff, although the difference between the xm2 and xm3 doesn't justify the price. Unless you love that the XM3 uses USB-C charging, I guess.

The Sony xm3’s are where I’d put my money. Well I picked up a set when I was in Abu Dhabi a couple of weeks back. Immense headphones really, but I didn’t find them getting too hot on my ears, they do get a bit warmish if anything.
I had a pair of Bose QC35s before I bought the Sony ones, I returned them as I didn’t find them very good sound wise and noise cancelling wise as well. Plus the Sony app that you can download to your phone is much more feature rich than the Bose. Noise cancelling adjustment on the Sony app is much more precise I found ie you can control how much sound comes through. Unlike the Bose app which just has 3 settings.

Obviously if you can, try both of them out side by side. If I’m not mistaken John Lewis probably has both on display.

But all in all I love my Sony xm3’s. Probably the best £300 I’ve spent on anything in recent years. Hell even my missus has stolen them for her use lol. I found them superb coming back on the flight as I had a screaming kid in front of me, all I did was put them on...cranked up the NC and I could hardly hear him even though I wasn’t listening to any music.

Only con I find is that you need to unpair then if you want to use it with another phone. But that’s not a huge issue for me tbh.

I've just come out of hospital after a month. Bose QC 35 ii kept me sane. Peace in a world of chaos. Doubt you'd go wrong with the Bose or the Sony. The Sony ear covering mute thing is cool but the Bose are so comfy.
