Do you answer a call from a withheld number?

Yes, some of my family have blocked numbers and as I was searching for a job most recruitment agencies have blocked numbers.
If it is someone trying to get me to switch over to another electricity company I either tell them off straight away or have some fun with them.

Depends, if its my work mobile I tend to have to, if its my personal mobile yes, as there are some people I know who withhold their number including my house phone although its very rare that someone rings from the house landline.

I tend more to ignore 0845 numbers on my personal mobile as these are guaranteed to be people trying to sell me something I don't want!

If the 0845/0844 numbers are that important, I am sure they will leave me a message.

You know a lot of offices block the number on outgoing calls. It could be someone you know calling form work, it could be your bank calling you to verify a transaction on your account, the police because someone has been hit by a car.......

The PABX at my work comes up as private number, same as where my other half works. So I always answer because it's normally work or her!

Then they will leave a message

Simple :)

Although my workplace doesn't block it, it comes through as the external line so I can't see who it is though so I generally don't answer it unless I'm working from home (eg if I'm not in work hours I won't answer it unless it's expected), they can leave a message as well :p

On my land line never answer a withheld of unknown number, let the answer machine pick it up. 9 out of 10 times no message is left, so i guess they are just spam.

Never answer them, as people said if it is important people leave me a message.

Same with house phone...we never ever answer it, everyone we know who we would want to speak rings twice, if the phone rings staight after we know it is a phone call we want to answer...works a treat :)

I never answer withheld numbers on my mobile, anyone who I've given that number to I will already have in my phonebook. If it's an emergency they will call the housephone anyway.

Any withheld numbers are never answered. 9.5 times out of 10 it is either a sales call, someone trying to con me into giving away personal details, an ex or "friend" hiding thier number, knowing full well I don't want to speak to them.

On the rare occasion it is a customer of mine they always leave a message. New customers don't withold thier numbers.

Of course I answer them, if it's someone I don't wish to speak to there's nothing stopping me hanging up within 3 seconds. I can't remember the time I got called from a withheld number that I hung up on anyway, usually the salesman don't withhold.

I think a lot of people have problems talking on the phone and like to find any excuse not to :p
