Do you drink alone?

I drink alone when I want to drink something alcoholic I like.

In the same way as I eat alone when I want to eat something I like.

This might be Whisky, Beer, Wine or something else.

if I didn't actually like alcoholic drinks I wouldn't drink them, alone or with friends, that would make me some sad person who did things purely to impress others or because I thought it was socially expected and didn't want to "rock the boat"...

I drink regularly alone. By alone, there are usually other people in the house but we're probably not socialising together. If the house is empty I usually don't touch the stuff and use the quiet time to get work done.

Personally I love drink, not for its own sake, but for the tastes. I don't bother with lout fuel (lager) but it isn't uncommon for me to see off a bottle of wine a night or have a few tumblers of a fine whiskey. Oftentimes I'll end up tipsy pretty much around the time I go to bed anyway, so it just happens to be a sleeping aid, though it isn't intentioned as such.

Quite a few of my mates dub me an 'alchy' in semi-jest for these habits, but frankly I don't understand it. Tonight, for instance, not a dram has passed my lips simply because I've felt dehydrated most of the day and would rather have water. Booze doesn't interfere with my work or academics, nor does a lack of it prevent me from making a complete and utter tit of myself on a night out.

My average alcohol consumption on a weekly basis is usually at least double that of what the NHS recommends as a maximum - but I do not say this to brag at all, simply to backdrop the point that I do not have a criminal record, have never been in a fight (drunk or otherwise) nor have I been reprimanded for drunken behaviour.

People enjoy alcohol responsibly and sadly it is us who are hammered by the minority of the population I'd class as being of 'untermenschen' levels of intelligence who are simply too puerile to either understand their limits or just have a childish relationship with the substance that leads to all the trouble that people make such a fuss over.

i have a glass of whiskey at home now and then, maybe a beer or 2 but never with the intention of getting smashed.

I rarely go to a pub alone for a drink and never with the sole purpose of getting hammered alone. (ill make sure i drag at least 2 people with me tee hee)

I once sat playing Team Fortress 2 with a 10 glass of vodka and a bottle of coke. I woke up the next morning terribly hungover and with no vodka or coke left. I then checked my computer to see whether I'd left any evidence of what I'd been up to and lo and behold found about 10 screenshots of me as top of the server and some class killcams etc! I was half happy and half annoyed I'd drunk all my vodka. I'd post my TF2 pics but they were on my old laptop.

I used to drink alone as part of my weekly routine. I'd make my way through half (sometimes more) of a bottle of whisky once the Mrs. went to bed (I worked shifts at the time), while watching movies, playing games with mates online, and reading/posting forums etc.

I still do the same now that I've moved job, except it's now on a friday night and the wife is still up with me. So now, I don't drink alone, but I still do exactly what I did when I was alone (except for us both enjoying the movie, or playing 2-player games on the xbox etc.).

I get sloshed, I have fun, and then I go back to leading a perfectly normal life. I don't understand why that would constitute a "problem" while others who can't handle their drink are out in town trying to kick the **** out of their mates or any unfortunate passer by.

I probably drink once a month if that. I never drink alone. Rarely have a beer at home for the sake of it.

When I go out or intend on drinking with friends I get pretty wasted though. I have accepted British Culture and have adapted my drinking habits to suit that :D

I drink alone. Occassionally I'll have a couple of tins, depending on my mood and what I'm doing, that couple might go into a couple more.

I have no problem with it and I'm certainly not dependant on it.

I'll occasionally have one bottle or something during dinner

Never drink at home to get drunk....and when i do drink at home its never more than one

Depends after a long hard day nothing beats chillaxing in mah chair with a Pint of Ale or a wee nip 'o' scotch reading, watching or listening to somthing good.

edit: Sunglasses optional

Now or again I'll have a small glass of whisky while I'm watching something or a cider or two with/after a meal but I've never got drunk alone.
