do you indicate at roundabouts?

Technically you should indicate whenever leaving a roundabout, whichever exit it may be. First left is indicate left from when you approach to when you leave, going beyond 2nd left afaik you should indicate right until you pass the one before you turn off where you indicate left to exit.

Doesnt apply to mini-roundabouts though where you only need to indicate right if youre not going left or straight on, you dont need to signal left to come off though as simply turning off your right indicator is enough. I think if youre going left its just indicate left as any other junction.

What annoys me more is when this happens.

This picture shows a prime example near where my parents live (Brooklands roundabout between Sale/Altrincham if anyone knows it)

Red car indicates left coming onto the roundabout, but then doesn't take the left most exit.
Takes the green line when indicating as though they are going to take the white line.
This confuses cars pulling out of that exit, who might think said car is going to go down the road they are coming out of but instead goes across them.

I have been known to pull out infront of cars which have come round the roundabout without indicating, then they beep and abuse me but i just laugh it off.
Thing is, your insurance company won't be laughing when said car plows in to the side of you :p

yes it ticks me off ALL The time! waiting to pull out they go left with out indicating! or when your on a dual carriage way/motorway and they pull in front of u (switching lanes) without indicating,

Also I hate it when your behind someone and all of a sudden they slam their brakes on, indicate left and pull off and the last minite!!!!

and before you ask, yes I do indicate so i dont get a **** going into me and saying i didnt indicate!

I indicate when I need to, to let others know what I'm doing, always have done.

This is funny, to watch the person winge because I dont indicate in this situation... and when I see other people indicating to go straight on it makes me chuckle.

I usually indicate to let the car waiting know that I know that I'm not the only car on the road and won't be going right, like so many do without indicating, just to be courteous. I'm not surprised the thought doesn't enter some peoples heads.

I would indicate in that situation.

Why would you not want to?

Why would you not want to?

Because where else can I go?

Suddenly cut across the roundabout? That would be retarded driving indeed, do people actually expect that? I've seen it happen before sure but hardly ever...

Maybe I havent drawn it very well.

Becuase I actually dont have anything else to do...... its from a differant angle but you get the idea, two lanes... you cannot possible go straight on if you were next to me so its obvious that your turning right.

If you are where I am in the picture you must be going straight on. Unles you do the crazy turn that I have highlighted with the arrow. That would be mental, and of 6yrs crossing this roundabout at least every Saturday Ive never seen it.

I'm glad they fail to indicate then as you should never "just fly out in front" of anyone regardless of indication, one day you'll come a cropper cause someone has left there indicator on. Always treat indicators and headlight flashes with caution.

One of the first things my driving instructor told me, was never pull out in front of a car that is signalling to turn left, whether at a junction or on a roundabout. Always wait until you see them start to make the turn, or some other positive sign they intend to make the manouevre. I've followed enough cars in my time where the driver has failed to cancel the indicator to know what he meant.

Of course that was back in the 1980's when there was a bit less traffic and things were less aggressive all round. These days things are so congested sometimes - even against better judgement - you have to go on chance or have the 4x4 driver behind tooting and flashing you for perceived hesitation.

Personally I despise roundabouts. They may have been a good idea 30 years ago but not with 21st century traffic levels and driving. Roundabouts with lights are even worse - surely it should be one or other. One good thing about driving in the US on holiday is that they don't have 'em. Where traffic levels dictate it they provide a light controlled intersection. Simple as that. Positive seperation and every flow gets a fair chance.
