Do you leave your computer on all of the time?

I turn it off when I'm not there to save energy, but after reading about this audiogalaxy thing I may leave it on to stream music

I foudn this thread after i was loking in task manager and noticed this

19 days

Might actually turn it off tonight.

Normal PC is usually in Standby. Microserver is on 24/7 as is my work PC except when I occasionally shut it down over the weekend for Windows updates.

For years when living alone I always tried to leave the house with no plugs bar the fridge and freezer on.

(no oven on, no microwave on, no standby on the TV etc...)

It's been a losing battle when future Mrs_C moved in - I still try - it includes my PC.

Unless maybe downloading heavily - there's no point really.

PC is only on from 6pm til 12ish on weekdays. At weekends it is on from when I get up until I go to sleep. Got a small web and file server which is on all the time but never used. Really should turn it off.

I'll usually switch it on first thing in the morning if I am going to be around home all day then it'll get shutdown last thing at night. Laptop usually sits and hibernates unless I know I'm not going to be using it for a few days. Wife's PC in dining room is her work PC and she only ever switches that on when she needs to do any work on it then it gets shutdown immediately.

That all said, when you have an 18 month old son who is fascinated by buttons and switches, if I'm honest, the PC's are on and off all day multiple times whenever he sees fit. :D
