Do you like Beef Jerky?

Love Beef Jerky, but the proper stuff is 10x better than the stuff they sell at Tescos.

Had some great stuff when I was over in Colorado last year, as well as some Yack Jerky, that was especially tasty. Wish I could get more of it to bring back lol.

i love the stuff, but its damn expensive for a pack of those that the OP has got, almost £1.30 something, and to my disgust theres not a lot in them, well atleast for my taste

whats the difference between biltong and jerky? I thought they were the same..

Biltong is South African. It's also juicer and less chewy, has more subtle flavours and is just generally better. It also tends to come in small very thin slithers whereas jerky tends to be thick chunks (comparatively).

Biltong is to jerky as Hovis is to Tesco's value bread.

But it's Sith Ifrican so it will probably give you AIDS.

Please don't call Rocking JC jerky, it is inferior in quality to mass produced jerky in the states, and decent farm produced stuff you can order online. The JC gear has a consistency akin to plasticine :(
The stuff on http://britishbeefjerky.co.uk/buy.html is awesome quality, made on a farm in Northumberland it is gorgeous in every way (if a little pricey, hey, you pay for quality).

I think ive herd of this but have never look at it, is it kind of like peperami(sp) (which I have also never tried). I.e low quality 'meat' snack? I like pork scratchings.

Is there just 1 whole piece of something inside or loads of crisp like bits? also, is it really "not cooked" like the guys above said?

Edit: i did a wiki, do people get ill from eating these?

loads of small bits, size depends on what you buy, no all jerky is made from the best cuts, very lean and very good for you.
You can get strips, nuggets and slabs.

No you don't get ill, it's dried.

It's revolting!

Seems to be getting more and more popular here too.

I've been curious about it since seeing the film Trading Places years ago - "beef jerky time!" :D Tried it (that same stuff the OP mentions) a couple of weeks ago and it was vile! Horrible super rubbery textured minging tasting foul crap!

If you can find some online, get Oh Boy Oberto! brand, it's #1 in the states, and it's LOVELY...their two most populat flavours are Teryaki and Peppered Steak flovours. It's great stuff...although made at home beef jerky is the way to go!

Rockin JC stuff is nice, the peppered or teriyaki ones are the best but original will do in a pinch. Wouldn't mind trying some proper stuff, or some biltong.
