Discovered that Crysis 3 can only be played at 1080P with a mix of medium - Very High if you want 170hz refresh rate on a Ryzen 5600x and RTX 3070. I run pretty quick 3733mhz CL17 memory.

The hottest component though is my CPU hitting a blazing 83c! 1c hotter than when I render...

I do run a very relaxed fan curve on the CPU and case fans as it minimizs noise and 83c is not too bad for a 5600x. The CPU usage climbs quite high in Crysis 3 especially around grass areas and I dip to like 125-160 FPS.

Some areas bottlenecks occur but are not hardware related.

I had to disable V-sync altogether in game, run NVCP FPS cap at 1000FPS and select maximum performance from the GPU and put latency to Ultra. The RTX 3070 only hit 67c.

I also had to run Crysis 3 exe in compatibility mode for Windows 7 and disable fullscreen optimizations.

Went from 72 FPS to over 200.

I opened up BF2042 on the free weekend which killed my 970 for 10 minutes if that counts?

If I want to melt my GPU (CPU is a 5800X), just run anything in the last 5 years on high settings

Shadow Warrior 2 max settings @1440p/75 is as hard as I dare to push my RX 590, it's bad enough that I get driver timeouts...

My 5600X has never run hotter than 60 degrees doing anything, OP is your fan even ON?

I had temps like this on my 3600 with the stock cooler.

Changed to a nd15 massive cooler and it barely broke 65 degrees with the fan running slow.

The worst contributor to temperature for me is my 3080ti Fe. The blower cooler adds lots of hot air to the case and I had to increase case fan speed the compensate.

Max I've seen so far is 63C from my 3080 running with maxed out RT (CP2077, DL2) at 1440p with a 180Hz panel. CPU up to 45C so far. Both air cooled. This is with the heating turned up higher than I find comfortable. System remains silent being placed under the desk.

I turned my fans up and now max at 73c.. the cooler I have is really not great.

Grabbing a Fuma 2 from Scythe and 4 Scythe 120mm fans but can't afford it right now, will happen Friday.

Just as a checkup, any of you think my CPU voltage is too high? And what voltage would you recommend? It hits 1.35v.

Circled in red is the CPU max temp running the CPU-Z stress test which is representative of Crysis 3 temps.

I have not gone deep into 5600x overclocking.

Just set the CPU to 4.8ghz manual on 1.348v and am in windows right now, it survived the CPU-Z stress test and reaches 1c hotter.

So yeah OK too much voltage at stock...

HWinfo, Alder Lake is surprisingly good. Games don't tax it at all.

Actually that makes sense, I remember upgrading my old 4690k to a 4790k and the i7 ran cooler because it was doing less work. But those Intel chips are very nice it seems, which is good. Competition is good, and was much needed for a lot of years.

We need that in the graphics card sector now.

I have seen my 5800X hit 79C playing Days Gone and that's water cooled. Don't think it is an issue as these Ryzen chips just pump high volts at lower loads where there is headroom to do so. GPU hits about 50C - fan speeds set to stay at 40% until water temp reachins 30c+

Both my 5800x and 3080 are undervolted so they don't go above 65c or so with low fan/pump speeds, I like silence.
At stock the 5800x would hit 80c+ with high fan speeds and same for the 3080 in demanding games.

12700K - 55C (Kraken X63 AIO)
RTX3080 - 65C

That's typical for my demanding games such as Quake II RTX, Icarus at high no DLSS cheating. GPU undervolted and CPU is a mild 5.1 GHz OC but not on all cores.

OP is your OC @ 4.8 GHz v1.348 an all core OC as that will definitely push up the CPU temps on an air cooler.

Just for extra stress I ran CPU-Z stress test + Valley benchmark as well and that did get the CPU up to 74C (GPU 60C).

HZ & FPS slightly different things but I have a 165HZ monitor but often I'll limit FPS to ~80fps as that's usually enough for me. Certainly can help reduce load on the GPU and coil whine.

My previous 3070Ti was definitely a lot hotter than my current 3080 though. nVidia definitely pushed that GPU further.

Prime 95 stock with PBO2 -25 curve (1.225v) 85c max temp, cooler on max.

I seem to have a bad chip.

I have put in for replacement parts and an upgrade to the 5800x, purely because I think the 5600x is much worse silicon from what I have seen. If I am buying another CPU I may as well upgrade and the 5800x has come down in price significantly. OCUK Don't have the Fuma 2 in stock, I also have Prime on Amazon so..

It comes today but I won't have chance to play with it until I am home from work.

It will come with the stock cooler so will run it with that and see how things go. It is likely the stock cooler with the 5800X will do better than my 5600x + AC 34 Esports Duo combo funnily.
