Do you prefer to game on small monitor or big HDTV?

My only choice just now is to game on the spare 42 inch HDTV in the spare bedroom. I couldn't afford to get a monitor with my build. I find it too big just now and my preference will be to get a 24" monitor once the financial burden of the new baby lifts.

If I could stop buying cheap games that I see on savygamer.co.uk then I could have one much sooner.

Given the choice I'd probably prefer to play sports, racing, fighting games on HDTV (46" 1080p @ 60hz) and everything else on monitor (22" 1680x1050 @ 120hz). However, my computer is on a different floor to my TV so it is too much hassle setting it up, then moving everything back etc.

If you can get a nice hassle free setup where you can quickly switch between monitor and tv, that would be ideal.

I usually play on my monitor there's nothing stopping me playing on the TV via HDMI at 1920x1080 with my surround sound through optical but for some reason my 22" pc monitor with sennheiser headphones is much more immersive

It is much more immersive

However I been lazy so just playing deus ex on the big screen with pad.

But headphones plus monitor is very immersive. Obviosuly your eyes only see the sreen and ears only hear the game.

HWen you play big monitor you see all the other sht in your room subconsicouly, its in your field of view though you dont focus on it.

Depends on the mood I am in and the type of game. I have been alternating between using my 40" Sony and 22" monitor for Deus Ex: HR. Some days I just feel too tired to sit at my desk so opt the TV route.

I will say one thing though, and that is Deus Ex: HR works very nicely with a controller + HDTV + PC setup.

I use a 32" 720p HDTV.

I find it perfect sitting at a desk with the HDTV about 2m away.

Res is 1366x768 which I find fine at that distance and means high detail gaming without the need for a top of the range GPU.

I would ideally like a 40" 1080p in the same set up but there's really no need.

I prefer playing games with a pad and a large TV whilst sitting on the sofa; and have little patience with the genres that need a desk to play.

These days I usually use the PC to play cross platform stuff* with better graphics / loading times / framerates / modding / price and a PS3 for its exclusives.

*PC Ports with the gamepad support taken out annoy the hell out of me.
