Do you religiously stick to the same toilet roll brand?

Can’t dispute that, and don’t wish to, but I was commenting on the fact that some people, usually women, use much more toilet paper than is necessary to do the job.
Anyone who has had the misfortune to be in the bathroom with a woman who takes a pee will observe her pull enough loo roll off the holder to clean the windows of a fleet of 747s.

A relative lives in a small cul de sac of 12 houses. Within a couple of months of moving in the mid 80s, the garden flooded with nappies and wipes. Turns out the family of a house in the cul de sac flushes nappies down the toilet. They were a lot bulky then too. Family did this quite often. Drains were sorted out Then a 25-28 year gap and then the nappies and wipes flooded the gardens. Yes the family now have grandchildren. Never learnt their lesson.

I live alone and use loo roll sparingly. I remember opening a pack of 16 loo rolls on the morning of surgery and was back home in the early evening and off work for 15 weeks. On my first day back at work, I put on the last roll of the pack. Surgery wasn't on part of body affecting toilet functions
 
I remember it. Making kids wipe their arse with that stuff was tantamount to child abuse.

Also, why did old style school toilet seats always have a gap at the front? They was always shaped like a horseshoe. What was the point in the gap?

Speak for yourself - It cost me 4K to have my drains re-rounded and fiberglass lined. Even now every time I pass the bog I press the flush button and sometimes I take a bowl of used washing up water to bog and throw that down as a precaution.

ps - mine isn't modern. :(

Yeah I didn't see the point of them either. I work from home now, but pre-covid, a few of our bog seats were still the horseshoe ones in buildings from 1960s to 1990s era.

But it was medicated, which made it better! Somehow. I remember that it being medicated was a big deal, prominent on the box.

I never understood why anyone thought it was appropriate as toilet roll. It simply wasn't fit for purpose. Now that I'm reminded of it, I'm going to look it up to see what the reasoning behind it was...

...well, that's odd. As far as I can tell, the manufacturer had a surplus manufacturing capacity for disinfectant and was trying to come up with a product to use it. I guess real toilet paper wouldn't work with the disinfectant.
 
The medicated loo roll was Izal. My late grandmother used it. Mum had to buy her a roll. It was back in the late 90s/early 00s £1.45 for ONE roll! Think then for the same money, could buy a pack of four supermarket own soft white loo roll. My mum took a normal loo roll with us when we visited my grandmother.

Don’t think it’s available now.
 
My schools used pink toilet roll which had bits in it.

Does anyone remember having the school toilets having the ceiling covered with wet loo roll that was chucked there?
 
ALDI is ok, the 9pk and the big 24pk (think it was) but it's over a year since I've bought any from there. Currently using B&M 9pk for £1.99 and it seems OK. If I'm shopping in somewhere like ASDA then I'll buy their own brand "Shades" as the cheaper Smart Price is rubbish and this is the same with all the big 4 supermarkets.

Cheap shops and the German supermarkets can do stuff for cheap that is actually good and usable but the big 4 seem to purposely make their cheap stuff (smart price range etc) absolutely rubbish and that's not just botty wipe.
