Up until recently I thought that I simply needed a nap due to me getting a little older, though that's unlike me to think like that since I really don't believe it deep down, and maybe I was just using that as an excuse. I can't speak for others, but in my case I found out that all it was simply telling me to do was get more sleep at night, thus no naps now required. I find I need 7.5 hours as a healthy average amount.
Someone posted this the other week, I think I have found it of some benefit :
Yup - power nap at work for 40mins after lunch so my lunchtimes are generally about and hour long. We have various rooms dotted about the site that have futons especially for this
Generally take another 30 mins about 6pm when I get in from work before tea whilst the kids are winding down.
Don't work Mondays or Fridays and take about an hours nap on those days about 1pm.
