Many people have suffered the pain from dells. Slow loading times, plastic cover falling off the front, noisy hard drive and unrelibility. From my experiences of working at a computer repair centre basically all the computers that came in where dells. Share your story's here.

i mostly saw dell's with hinge issues or dodgy power sockets/charging chip failing, saw more advents and medions than i care to remember

my first ever pc was a dell. bought by my parents for a xmas years ago. must say tho never had any problems with it at all. only annoying thing i found it that they make them right annoyin to upgrade.

In all honesty I feel dell produce some of the more reliable Laptops\desktops out there. Advent\Emachine or Acer on the other hand.... I think it depends on what you spend on the Acer machine though, the cheaper end ones always overheat.

Toshiba seem to be terrible for their power sockets coming loose

I'd agree with that, they also are generally more popular so parts are easier to source when they do go wrong.

I've had loads of issues with HP/Compaq laptops so won't be touching that brand again.

same here
there laptops seem to be rly reliable my mother has a dell. and it is brill for want she wants a pc for. never any problems. much better than my acer aspire laptop

Dell consumer kit - throwaway rubbish
Dell business kit - amongst the best out there

I've worked extensively on and with the former, and had significant experience with the latter and this is firmly my opinion. The line is a bit blurred sometimes, so it's not always black and white, but in general that's the way it is.

The cost for performance before Dell bought Alienware it was possibly fairly priced for the parts etc now its like, "Here's this desktop specced at about £1000 you can have it for £1500" kind of idea.

Whats wrong with Alienware stuff? Or is it just the cost?

i dont think anything is wrong with it hardware wise. just the cost is abit to much. and also personally i dont rly like the look of the case designs

same with apple. way to expensive for wat they are

Optiplexs were a pain. When we were supposed to replace the hard drive we spent half an hour trying to put the front cover back on. Then cut our hand trying to route cables.
